We really don't have a thread for this masterpiece? Quite possibly one of the best Final Fantasys ever. Discuss the game here.

The compilation for the PSP is due for release on the 21st. It includes ever before seen artwork, a jukebox, updated graphics and a Bonus Chapter that bridges After Years to the Original. I'm pretty pumped and plan on buying it.

I wasn't even going to buy this until I realized that I still don't have The After Years and this compilation is cheaper than buying all of the episodes on WiiWare.

Do you have to play through Final Fantasy IV to unlock The After Years, though? 'Cause I'd kinda like to just get to The After Years, since I've just beaten the DS version of Final Fantasy IV, and do not much want to play through it again right now.

I'm in the same boat as Soro. I don't think I wanna buy another copy of IV just for the After Years. I don't really see the After Years alone warranting a purchase either, unfortunately. Maybe in a year + when it's on the super cheap.

Nope, you can pick up anywhere you want.

And yeah, the game doesn't warrant a buy, but I have not played the DS version, and probably won't. So might as well, right? Two games in one.

I remember, when my sis was still around, I'd borrow her version of this and play it. It was pretty good, definitely something new. Can't say much about specific elements, but I miss being able to play this game.

I missed playing Cecil as a Dark Knight later in the game, I liked him better as that than as a Paladin. :<

So I just got this yesterday and I'm fairly far along. Cecil is about to turn into a paladin for me. I messed up first time and tried to fight the dark knight version of him, didn't end well and i forgot to save for a very long time... getting back to where I was at least. I hate how often they switch out characters though. It becomes kind of annoying. Right when I start liking a character, bam, they get taken away from the party. Shit sucks.

Yeah they do that. There's a set "final" team that you always have at the end game.

Cry moar, Die-on.

I don't really know why the others versions of the game would rectify the idea that Yang, Palom, Porom, Cid, Tellah, etc all come and go throughout the game instead of having a static party.

That being said, which version of IV did you end up getting, Alu?

I got the new PSP version with after years. Figured it was best to go that way. Was only 17 bucks so I figured why not.

Yeah, that's the best version. You can choose your team at the end of the game, though. o.o

So I'm stuck at the Lodestone Cavern. Everytime I go into battle I just lose. Any reason why? I didn't have the mythril set on... so i wondered if you have to not have ANY metallic items on at all.

NOTHING metallic at ALL. It slows you down too much. Basically, your main magic dishers will be Tellah and Yang.
