I've put in about 2 hours I think, right after the part where
Spoiler
I agree that it is visually stunning and the battle system is just... <3. It's the perfect blend of familiarity and freshness.

As for graphical differences, they're there, but they're hardly noticeable. The only way you can even tell is if you compare shots side by side.

God dammit. I can't wait to be able to play this tomorrow. I'm going to have to sit through a whole day at school, not being able to focus on anything.

And to think you haven't even gotten to play with Paradigms or Crystarium yet. That's when the game goes from being epic to being EVEN MORE EPIC. It's amazing how the battle system goes from being extremely basic to being extremely in-depth with the addition of a single mechanic.

God dammit. I can't wait to be able to play this tomorrow. I'm going to have to sit through a whole day at school, not being able to focus on anything.

I'm with you on this one. >.O I have 3 classes today, and I told myself that I'm not allowed to play between the second and third ones because I might end up causing myself to be late for the last... No FF until after 8. D:

Hopefully you'll finish in time for God of War III.

I've decided that I need $40 more if I am to purchase this game atm. But since I'll be busy for the next 2-3 weeks I wouldn't get to play anyway. So I'll manage.

Okay, I'm really getting pissed off at all of the idiots bashing this game now.

People are bitching at a lack of towns, backtracking, free-roaming environments, and general linearity of areas.

Why does this piss me off?

I wonder if anyone who bitches about any of these things has ever even played the damned game, really. -____-"
I MEAN COME ON. At the beginning of the game, you get branded as Pulse L'Cie and end up having the entire FUCKING WORLD against you, LITERALLY.

OH, LET'S GO EXPLORE PALUMPOLUM AND TALK TO PEOPLE HURR HURR. Yeah, because that makes fucking sense. OH, LET'S GO BACK TO THE HANGING EDGE! OR OR OR LET'S GO BACK TO THE PULSE VESTIGE OR LAKE BRESHA!

Yeah, because turning around and doubling back on ground you've already covered in your attempt at ESCAPE makes LOTS OF SENSE.

LET'S GO RUN OFF INTO THE DISTANCE IN THESE COOL HILLS AND FIND TREASURE~

You have the entire Cocoon army RIGHT ON YOUR TRAIL and people somehow bitch about the fact that they don't have huge, wide-open areas to wander around in to explore everything in HOSTILE TERRITORY.

UGH.
On another note, people blow the linear area idea WAY OUT OF PROPORTION. There have been like... two or three areas that were a literal straightaway in the entire game so far. One of them was a set of train tracks. -__________-"

Every other area has been rather expansive with plenty of place to wander around and explore and marvel at the sheer epic of the surrounding scenery.

AT THE SAME TIME, the storyline is anything but linear. One second you're playing as these two guys, running through the woods. The next you're playing as these other two, heading through a beautiful green pasture (which was rather open).

Just. Ugh.

I can't stand how people speak without ever even playing the damned game. They make it seem as though they would rather the whole game be open (ala every prior FF game) when it is just a nonsensical idea for this particular game and storyline to be thrown into a situation like that. It just makes no sense.

/rant

I love Snow.

Yeah, basically. If people actually stopped to think about it, it makes perfect sense. People bitch about these things, saying they are essential parts of RPGs, but not being able to go into towns and explore areas actually makes you feel like you're an outcast on the run from an army. Which is a more important aspect of an RPG (feeling like you assume the role of the character).

Oh my gee.
It's like they took out everything I didn't like about Final Fantasy, washed it up a bit, then put it back a newer, cleaner way.
The best part, they kept everything else I like about Final Fantasy EXACTLY the same.

Final Fantasy XIII is the best CG Movie with built in JRPG.

I may get to play (watch) this soon, my friend has almost beat (finished viewing) it.

>_> Dude. The majority of the game is played. The cut-scenes don't detract from the game-play at all and always seamlessly transition.

Judging a game before you play it based on reviews and then quoting that as fact is being an idiot.

This is what my friends told me. I said this more as a joke than anything else being that even since I watched/read that review I've really wanted to play it. ._. It's off my "friends" I was building doubts. So am I an idiot? -_-

I am loving this game so far, the battle system is just great and I think I have finally mastered it.

This is really a good game with a great story. This is one of a few games that actually had great character development for the main characters and a few others.

I usually like escapist reviews, but that one was just horrible in my eyes. He went above and beyond to bash the game for no reason. I don't even have it and maybe won't even like it when I get it, but going to just great lengths to bash a game "he chose" to play is downright stupid.
A girl, she sits alone on a pitch black night, sad, as nights dark veil descends, but low, the moon nestles into the sky, silvery and full, banishing the dark once it came, when dawn breaks, the night of atonement quietly departs

In the same tune as Rose, I usually enjoy Zero Punctuation.

That one was just silly, though. He played 5 hours of a 60+ hour game and then acts like he knows fucking everything there is to possibly know about the game. I dunno, seems a bit over the top, though he's COMPLETELY correct on near every point there. First impressions of the characters paint them precisely how he explained them, but... If he even paid attention to the game, he'd know wtf is going on.

I mean, seriously. You may not be all ZOMG l'Cie, Fal'Cie epicness!!!! in the first five hours of the game, but there is still a story which catches you in quite quickly. He also didn't even get out of the damned tutorial, so any comments he makes on the battle system or lack of super epic story segments are biased and stupid.

Blah, maybe I'm biased because I love everything about this game (aside from the 4000-10000 CP nodes in Stage 8 of the Crystarium) so far and am now officially thoroughly interested in the storyline. IMO anyone who whines about anything in the game is no better than Hope is for the first... 7 chapters of the game.

Good luck then with Stage 10 of the Crystarium. It has 30000 for the first few CP nodes and 60000 for the rest.

So, for some reason I can't access my Square Enix Members account, which means that I can't look up my code for the in-game item in Final Fantasy XIV when it comes out. Is there anyone who bought the PS3 version of the games who doesn't want/need their code that would be willing to give it to me? 'Cause that would be totally awesome.

EDIT:// Never mind. I got it from someone on GameFAQS.
