[Secret Igshar]

I've been sitting on this for a while and I'm now gonna just lay it out there. I didn't want to just drop the OoC thread, because I think it MIGHT be discourteous to Crimson Jazz, who currently has a somewhat similar roleplay running. Anyway, here goes. This is the excerpt I have slated to be the opening bit for the OoC thread, if this ever goes anywhere.

Mutation. It is the foundation of Evolution; of life as we know it. Mutants pave the way for the future of any species. Humanity should be no different. Mutants are different from Humans in that they possess a genetic abnormality which grants them extraordinary powers. Historical and fossil records indicate that these Mutants have existed throughout time. Always would they rise up, only to be stricken down for being different. Some were burned at the stake under accusation of witchcraft. Others were shunned from society due to physical deformities. Regardless of the situation, Mutants throughout history have been subjects of much persecution, bigotry, and hate.

After the end of the second world war, an underground movement of Mutants began. A brilliant man by the name of Alexander Praesent took it upon himself to create a school for people like him. Alexander himself was the Mutant offspring of a Mutant and his Human bride. His father kept his powers a secret from the city at large, and they had amassed an impressive fortune of their own, legitimate merit. Alexander’s father, unfortunately, passed on in the first world war, and Alexander himself had fought in the second. His own brushes with death brought him in touch with the mortality of the world and made him realize his one regret. His life so far had amounted to nothing. In an effort to pull some sort of meaning from his life, he built the Praesent Academy for Exceptional Individuals. He made sure to nestle it in a remote part of the mountains near Milencia. As the school’s first Headmaster, Alexander helped the school to begin. With his own power, he managed to locate and gather a majority of the Mutants in nearby cities and towns. This would be the first class at the school. He trained them to use their powers, taught them restraint; helped them to understand that these powers were a gift, not a curse. He helped them to see reason.

Over the following decades, the school flourished and grew. It found itself known only among the Mutant communities across the nation. Mutants would contact Alexander and, later, his successor and son, Damian, about any new Mutants who had recently discovered their powers. These Mutants would be pulled from school, after the appropriate talk was had with their parents, and flown off to board among the other Mutant students of the school. Praesent Academy remained secret from the Human authorities through a sustained, conscious effort on the part of all the Mutants throughout the country. Despite the Praesents’ best efforts to help every Mutant in the country, some slipped through the cracks or otherwise ended up staying away from the Academy altogether. Parents refused, children rebelled. Some were incarcerated, others were killed.

These Mutants, shunned from and hated by society, began to band together and form a resistance against the Humans. They had been oppressed for far too long. The uprisings began as isolated, small-scale terrorist attacks, but soon escalated to armed conflict in the streets. This alliance of renegade Mutants, self-labeled as the Eximiae, sought something more than just equality. They sought to upend the status-quo. They aimed to see themselves propelled into power; they wanted a future in which Mutants would rule over and persecute Humans.

Only in light of these attacks did Damian Praesent decide to make his school’s presence known. Humans could not fight Mutants head on, but Mutants could stop Mutants. Damian formed a team from his top students, dubbed Pafei, and declared them to be defenders and friends of Humanity. With this new development, with Humanity witnessing these Mutants protecting them, they have now begun to consider an idea of peace and equality between the two sides.


Thus, the events leading to the future have become uncertain. What happens from here would be anyone’s guess. That’s where you come in.



So who are you?

You are a Mutant, living in or around the city of Milencia. You have only recently discovered your powers *unless you’re a Teacher*. They reveal themselves with the onset of puberty, after all. You have recently been enrolled in the Praesent Academy for Exceptional Individuals, where you are now learning to develop your powers.

I think it might be too similar to WotS, so I'm very hesitant about going anywhere with this. I don't want to post it and then have WotS be forgotten, since I quite like my character there, and I think it has real promise. Thoughts?

You pretty much know my thoughts on this already. I'm in love with the idea and really want it to be made into an RP. It has a nice slice of life aspect while still being about mutants and the such. The way you have it set out will make it last a long time too. Everyone can work as a team against the bad guys rather then what we usually have.


Also, I dont think you have to worry about WotS at all. This RP and that one are different enough that they can co-exist with one another. WotS is a much harder RP to manage and takes a lot of time to get things moving. So people can easily join this one while the other wouldn't be forgotten. As long as people still post in WotS it wont go anywhere.

So in this, everyone's pretty much gonna be a "good guy"? Just wanted clarification on that, since that's the impression I got. If so, that's fine, really, just wanna be sure here. :3

Anyways, like Kai said, this and WotS are pretty similar, but this one has more of a slice-of-life feel while WotS has little of that ( goes for a more...industrial feel, I guess you would say? ) and needs to be, like...planned out loads in advance to determine what each side is gonna do and when as well as where it'll be done. They sound like they just may be different enough to be kept separate, though, since you've pretty much just gotten rid of the mass government/"villian" interaction. That also makes this go by a fair bit quicker, so if someone's off waiting for something in WotS, they could just post here.

That being said, I frankly love the sound of this idea.

...Well... I am not in this superhumans role-play. So, I can't really compare the two.

I guess i'll just leave this post with a "Let's do this" and a "I'm interested" and a "I would join if it was made."

Already brainstorming a character now o-o.

Yes Dexel. Everyone would be making a 'good guy' character. The bad guys would be controlled by Ig for the most part. Maybe someone else as well if it's really needed. But we'd all be one team. Think X-Men style really. A group of mutants together under one roof. Not all of them are nice guys really. Wolverine is a killer and a badass, so yea.

The only requirement for a character would be that they are a mutant enrolled at the Praesent Academy for Exceptional Individuals. I have morality worked in as something on the template, so it's completely possible that your character would be a rebel or someone who more sides with Eximiae somewhere along the lines. I'm all for you making a character you like. If you don't want to be a strict "hero" there would be absolutely no reason you'd be required to make one.


Oh, I also would need 2-3 people who are willing and able to create Teachers for the school. Anyone who makes a Teacher could make a Student as well, but Teachers need express permission from me, and they MUST be completely on Damian's side. They cannot be corrupt or villainous. :\

I want anyone who wants to join to join up. The OoC is up, and accepting character templates, so feel free to post up there whenever you get your ideas. I'm currently posting up Damian Praesent's as a model to base your own off of, so look forward to that.

If you would like to be a Teacher, you would just need to post up a Template idea for said Teacher and wait for me to accept or decline it. All information that would be needed should be in the OoC. I'll close this up now. Any questions you have can be directed there instead. :3
