Inspired by an Inception


“What is the most resilient parasite? Bacteria? A virus? An intestinal worm? An idea. Resilient... highly contagious. Once an idea has taken hold of the brain it's almost impossible to eradicate. An idea that is fully formed - fully understood - that sticks; right in there somewhere.”



The Plot


Ideas. The basis for all great inventions, and every terrible event in history. The capacity to create and understand the complexity of an idea is what defines us as human beings. Every day, a new idea engulfs our minds. We take it, shape it, and one day hope to share it with the world. However, there are those willing to steal ideas from others, either for industrial espionage, or for their own selfish reasons. This method is known as extraction, and can only be performed by those with the proper skills. Then, there are those who dare to attempt the impossible; Inception.

Planting an idea in one’s mind. Only fools would be brave enough to attempt such a feat. Of course, no one ever said the government wasn’t made of fools. The country of Angleos has been causing problems for the United States. Ships have been pirated, U.S. citizens have gone missing, and its dictator, Virgilio Ahmed, has designated it a no-fly zone. Instead of just pounding their way through the country like they have done in the past, the military has decided to incite a revolt in the country. And who better to lead that revolution than dictator’s own daughter?

But first, she’ll need an idea…

And we’ll need a team…

To Sum It All Up


You are a team of skilled extractors, hired by the United States military to perform Inception on Ahmed Virgilio’s daughter, Francesca. The idea; to have her realize that her father is causing more harm than good to his country, and that she must lead the Angleosian people into a new, democratic era. You must have a thorough understanding of the film in which this RP is based upon, Inception. Seeing half of it doesn’t count.

Abilities/Skills: [Basic abilities such as combat knowledge, linguistics, hacking, impersonation, level-creating, etc.]
Role: [Leader/Extractor, Architect, Forger, Point Man, Doctor] [I may allow more than one Point Man]
Totem: [small and unique object designed to test if oneself is in one's own reality and not in another person's dream.]

Biography: [You will only be required to explain how you became the best at your role, and what led you to join the military’s mission]

So, what do you guys think? Don’t worry, I have plenty of ideas for the story already written down, so you’ll go in with as much information as possible. The country of Angleos is fictional, btw.

I'm still pretty iffy on this. You'd need to DM this pretty hard and be the architect, I think, CJ.

I was planning on DM'ing really hard. Throwing things at you guys unexpectedly (projections) and possibly controlling another person's character for a while just to move them along.

And I agree with that, me being the architect, because I know what I would want the levels to look like. I planned on being the Leader/Extractor, but I can see you or Ig playing that role greatly. :>

I'm in the same boat as Val on this. It could be good, but I anticipate it not being so good. :\ I'm sort of interested in the concept, sort of, but I don't think I'd actually be interested in participating.

The coolest/best parts of Inception were the parts when Leo was dealing with/flashing back to his own past. The overall plot was only a side story to Leo's story. Without the actually interesting driving plot of that character... I don't know how interesting it would be. AND. If you DID make that character have a subplot within it, the RP would be too single-character-centric and would be boring for everyone else involved.

Yes, I realize that. That's why I said this:
