April 17, 2012

0900 hours

No one would normally be up and about this early. Times weren't normal. The times demanded those who would defend the world be up this early.

Robert Jefferson, codename USB (Universal Serial Badass), sat at his desk, nestled away in the corner of the large, wire-infested substation of the new hideout for the old Pafei. A new name still had not been created, so they currently called themselves Robert's Angels. Robert liked the name. Robert liked lots of things.

Robert did not like Eshe Nassri.

He peered through his rectangular glasses at the moving picture on the screen. The slender woman with grotesquely long fingernails, a pointed chin, hooked nose, and far too much eyeshadow sat at her desk, reprimanding the most recent student to step out of line, Trevor Marron. Poor kid. All he did was bring Lauren flowers.

This was what Robert had been watching all night long. The feed to Eshe's... Damian's office. Luckily for him, these ancient Mutants had not acclimated well to the use of technology. Robert still maintained complete control over the defenses of the school. The Servants had yet to discover the sub-basement.

Robert pushed himself off from the desk, his chair's wheels rolling across the floor as he rose up and dusted off his white, button-down shirt and his black slacks. He straightened his red tie and adjusted his glasses back to even and strode up the stairs into the main floor of the hideout.

The place was small, that much was obvious. They did not have enough rooms for everyone who came with them, as the majority of the Eximiae never really hung around this place for more than a couple of nights. It wasn't made to house an army.

Robert looked at the TV, and, with but a thought, it flicked on, blasting the news over anyone who had chosen to crash on the couches last night. Robert would take up the closest free spot on a couch and fold his arms across his chest as he watched the morning news. Same old, same old. More Mutant arrests. More Mutant deaths. Robert watched the news every morning, wondering when he would see the name of someone he knew flash across.

Today. One familiar name. "Son of a bitch," Robert swore as the volume grew louder.

Jaqueline Strauss was still reporting, as she had now cut ties with her Mutant offspring. Robert sneered at the woman as she explained, "Late last night, a pair of Mutants attempted to overturn a convenience store, but were stopped by what appears to have been a rival Mutant attempting to take the winnings for himself. He calls himself Guardian."

Robert screamed, "Bullshit! Leo would never!" shaking his fist at the woman on the screen.

"The ones who began the mess are now behind bars. Sources reveal their names to be Colton Granderson and Jose Rodriguez. The mysterious criminal, Guardian, managed to evade police capture, disarming and incapacitating seven armed AMTF units of his own accord. Luckily, all seven are confirmed to be in stable condition at this time. The police have released this sketch of the subject."

The image flashed to a rather accurate portrayal of Guardian, if he were a villain. He appeared with a maniacal grin on his face and was, of course, shrouded in a yellow glow.

Jackie went on to explain, "We have intelligence that suggests this Mutant is capable of creating weapons with but a thought. He is known to be armed and very dangerous. Should you encounter him o-" The television switched off and Robert ran his hands through his hair.

Not only were they no closer to finding Damian today than they were three weeks ago, the Mutant hate spread on the news was getting worse by the day. He needed to find out where Eshe went when she left the office. They must have built another room since taking control. It was the only explanation for her vanishing from all of his cameras. His head fell into his hands and he sighed, heavily. Zack and Sam would be back, soon, with breakfast. Hopefully that would calm him down, at least slightly.

Today was off to a bad start.

----------

Headmaster Nassri folded her long, gnarled hands and rested her elbows upon what once was Damian's desk. She eyed the young trouble maker, Trevor Marron, with wide, peculiar eyes. She had no iris. They were just black and white. Being put under her stare, alone, was enough to cause many people to lose their minds.

She spoke with a silky voice, slightly heavy with a smoker's rasp. "Mr. Marron, I presume?" It was Trevor's first time in the office since Damian had gone missing. The office was redecorated, outfitted with drab, dreary colors. Black curtains blocked the natural light. All that shone was the painfully luminescent hanging lamp just over the desk. It would feel like a spotlight to the poor kid, who had truly done nothing wrong.

The Headmaster leaned forward in her chair and said, slowly, "Flowers? You know the rules about bringing filthy things like those into the building." Lauren had been mostly holed up in her room since Katie's death. Trevor's visits brightened her day, if only for a while. He had been bringing her flowers quite regularly, and this was the first time he had been "caught" by none other than Cassandra Noware, the new English teacher. She had been lying in wait. She knew Trevor had been breaking the rules and she, more than anyone, greatly enjoyed the misery of others. Trevor had been doing a bit too well in her class, and so she wanted to cut him down a notch, at least, that was Trevor's thinking.

"Filthy things, flowers. So full of..." The Headmaster sneered, baring yellowing teeth as she said, "life." The disdain for the word dripped from it as it spilled from her mouth. She shuddered and explained, "The punishment for bringing such greenery into the school without express permission from myself or Mr. Minwu, as I am sure you know, is detention." She lifted a pad of paper from her desk and scanned over it, lips curled in a grimace. She stopped and said, "Oh, looks like I have a slot this evening with your name written on it." She dropped the pad down and scribbled his name, in pen, into the slot at six PM.

She flicked her gaze up to him after she finished and asked, "Any questions, love?"

If he had no questions for the woman, he could leave. Much to his surprise, Lauren would be waiting for him just outside, dressed head-to-toe in black leather, her wings drooped like usual. They had not been exercised in ten months. Her face was haggard, her body thinner than usual. She looked, for lack of a better word, like hell.

----------

"Mother fucking son of a whore!" Kylie Strauss screamed at the top of her lungs, the words reverberating in the dank, sewer environment. She punted a small rock out over the green waters and spat, "They got caught? God dammit! We're screwed! Screwed! I told you we shouldn't have sent Grand. I told you he'd screw it up! Especially with fuckin' Rodriguez! How the fuck are we gonna feed everyone now? Huh?" She grabbed at her hair and groaned, pacing back and forth at much too quick a rate.

Zedekiah Colt leaned back in his beach chair and kicked his feet up. He waved a hand and said, "Relax, relax. There's plenty of people out there willing to risk their necks to get some grub. What about that one kid, uh..." He snapped his fingers a few times, unable to recall the name.

Heather piped up from atop her barrel, "That Wolfmask fellow? He'd definitely be up for it. Just gotta find someone to go with."

"Send Patrick, kid's been dying to get out there for a while," Zed suggested.

Kylie sighed and said, "Yeah, I guess so. I'll go find Wolf, you get Pat," She nodded to Heather.

The three of them were far off away from the main hub of the drifter colony, dubbed New Milencia. Very few of the other inhabitants knew the specific network of tunnels to travel to arrive at their little headquarters, so it was as if they had their own, private garden... only it smelled a lot worse than a garden would.

Kylie Strauss, codename Cricket, reached New Milencia in half-a-second's sprint, and stretched when she arrived. The village stretched a good way in the wide open space they had created through the team effort of Colton and Carlos. Everyone who arrived had a house built for him or her where they could stay, live, and be merry. Everyone who lived here was a Mutant. No one was a freak.

The community was polite, friendly, it was a utopia for any and all Mutants from all walks of life. Some Mutants had taken to opening up shops where they would peddle things they had found either in the sewers or above ground for the currency of the underground, "chips." Chips could be almost anything technological. Computer chips, floppy disks, CD's, anything of the sort. It all had different value, though most people didn't care enough to figure out how it worked.

Kylie, Heather, and Zed were the kings and queens of New Milencia. They made sure everyone was well-fed, had a roof over their head, and could be reasonably content with their role around town. Something always needed doing, and there was always someone willing to do it. Life in New Milencia could only be considered interesting.

Kylie strode at "normal" speed through the crowds of Mutants, making a beeline for one of the more recently-erected buildings, where she knew Wolfmask resided. She would knock twice on his door before simply opening it herself and stepping inside, announcing, "Oy, oy, Wolf-bro, it's Kylie, here to ask you for a favor!"

If he was home, asleep or otherwise, she would rouse him and first ask, "I need a favor. You wanna do it?" No context would be given as to what the favor was. Kylie would simply stand there in her somewhat ragged clothes, with her peculiarly-shaped legs designed for running, and her grimy, shoulder-length black hair, fists on her hips, waiting for a reply.

Folka would likely have had little, if any, direct interaction with Kylie Strauss since arriving here. Heather, the cutest, easily most-approachable one of the Big Three, was the one to greet newcomers and generally mingle with the populace, while Kylie and Zed tended to just sit back and focus on keeping everyone well-fed and happy.

Brimstone picked up his head slowly from the darkened corner of the room as Robert flicked on the news. He blinked and looked to the side. How long had he been staring into space? Had he slept? He mustn't have. He rose his glowing eyes to the ceiling as he listened to the report. Guardian being reckless again, Brimstone figured. He sighed a bit.

It didn't seem like Guardian to do something like that. Still, the man was one of the most restless he had ever known. He spoke up finally, likely startling anyone unaware of his presence, "Is Guardian around? Should I look for him?"

Brimstone wasn't feeling much up to moving at all. He hung his head as he finished speaking. It had been a long year, he realized. A very long, and somber, year. He was tired of this already, but there was nothing to be done. Not now, anyway.

Jason laid in bed, staring up at the ceiling. He couldn't sleep. Times were tough for mutants. Though mutants saved the ASS of humanity, they were now seen as dangerous beings that needed to be destroyed. All because of her. He wouldn't even think Sariel's name after all of what had happened. He sat up and swung his legs over the bed. He got up and went to the bathroom, looking at himself in the mirror. He looked like shit. Dark circles under his eyes, messy hair, wrinkled clothes just to name a few of the things that made him look bad. He sighed. "Dammit, Jason." He mumbled a few unintelligible curses as he washed his face and combed his hair. After that, he looked semi-normal. Jason shrugged. Good enough. He walked out of his small room for his daily stroll. He walked around the halls. He ended up in the room Robert was in. He knocked on the wall to get Robert's attention. "Good morning, Robert. Need help with anything?"

Derek watched the report with little reaction. He had nothing to say about the matter, and decided that he wouldn't say anything. he put his ear phones in and started listening to music. He was leaned up against a wall not really paying attention to no one else but the floor. The year had made him less chatty than he used to be. There was just not much to be happy about, other than their own safety. As long as guardian was safe, it didn't matter to him. Guardian was strong enough to take care of himself, and Derek was the least worried about him.

Derek thought it seemed quite hopeless, the new situation they were in. There was no way things were going to get better, until they got some lead to move forward things were just going to keep getting worse. Everyone was fighting for survival.

Penelope whistled and walked down the halls of the academy. She smiled and waved at the few of the students, making all of them look happy. Some stayed like that or where already like that, a majority of them however would smile at her and then go back to a sad depressed state. Penelope held back frowns when they went back to being depressed. It wasn't right, in fact if made the school seem more dead than usual. Everyone in the Pafei had left the academy, which strangely enough made Penelope feel a little lonely. She missed the compliments Jason used to give, despite the fact she didn't really like the boy. She missed the music Derek would generate, even though his goofiness used to irk her most of the time. She missed seeing Orias one place before finding out he had popped up somewhere else. She missed everyone which was why Penelope always wondered why she stayed behind.

The woman was lost in her thoughts and memories as she stared at the ground while she whistled. Ah, that's right. I stayed for the ki-! Penelope walked straight into a wall and fell backwards onto the ground. "Ow..." she moaned, rubbing her forehead. She could hear a couple of students giggle, which made Penelope smile. Making the students happy was always a good thing, even when one would have to walk into a wall. She got up on her knees and continued to rub her head. Quietly she chuckled at her careless. Her own pain was enough to entertain her, even for a short while. At least it distracted her from what was worth worrying about during these times when you were a mutant.

Sinclair watched the news as he saw the anchor call Guardian one of the bad guys. He would be quite upset at one of his own being grouped with these other trouble making mutants but that's how things were now. Sinclair would look around to see if Guardian was around but it seemed he wasn't. "Damn him. I'll have his ass for not being stealthy enough. He needs to play it safe more and not get so much attention drawn to him. I know he has good intentions but all it takes is for some crackpot to follow him here and the damn bastards to raid us. That's the last thing we need."

Their new 'headquarters' wasn't the same as the academy but it was still a place to call home. Sinclair was a bit upset that Strong hadn't come with them but stayed behind at the academy. He was hoping everyone would stick together. It's been a whole year since the events that started all of this happened. In that year many things have transpired. Many bad things and far too few good things. Things couldn't really get much worse is what Sinclair thought. He tried to be optimistic about their situation but with no leads whatsoever to really go off of for finding Damian they were pretty much stuck where they were. Fighting to stay alive and fighting to still keep everyone safe from the violent mutants out there. Even if the public shunned them and hated them. It was still their job to make the world a better place. It's what Damian would want from them in this time.

Gemini stirred as the TV turned on, and Robert plopping onto an open seat on the couch he had fallen asleep on prompted his attention. Sleepily, he sat up and looked at the tele, and groaned at seeing Guardian was again in the news. "Needs to work on stealth, that boy. Not his fault those humans have gotten so cold to us, though. We saved them from Sariel, and what thanks do we get? Gettin' treated like we're as bad as her." Giving a loud yawn, Gemini adjusted his glasses and marked the page he had been reading in a book before he fell asleep. He jumped slightly as he heard Orias' voice call out suddenly, but was used to it at this point. He also seemed not to notice Jason for the moment as the lad knocked on the wall and called for Rob's attention.

He had woken up in a bad mood once again. This past year had been tiresome, the last 6 months especially. It would take a moron not to think they were in a horrible time right now.

"Don't call me bro... Miss Strauss." said a noticeably weary voice. The room was totally pitch black until Folka illuminated an oil lamp he had beside him. He had been in a sitting meditation pose when Kylie opened the front door to his new home. Physical peace was not enough to calm him; he needed spiritual peace but prayer and psalm could not bring him this luxury. He slowly rose up, with his legs tired from being crossed with one another. It had been a while since anyone had made contact with Folka yet he had a feeling that wouldn't last too long.

"I assume this favor is part of my upkeep payment. Go over the mission briefing while I prepare my gear."
said to Folka while facing Kylie's general direction though not directly at her. Perhaps the fresh air of the outer world and fresh blood of its outer world inhabitants would soothe the restlessness of the young wolf's heart.

( A year after Sebastian left the academy. )

Sebastian once again woke up from a random barn, he had no goals, no ambition and absolutely nowhere to go. He got on his motorcycle and headed toward the nearest bar to get wasted and forget about the whole day.

He stumbled upon the nearest bar in the middle of nowhere named " Barry's "
At this point Sebastian's long black hair grew down to his chin, he hadn't showered in months and he mainly stole food from grocery stores. He approached the bartender who was a chubby fellow.

" Whiskey, and leave the bottle "
The man eyed Sebastian for a good minute before handing the bottle over, Sebastian looked around and reached for his pocket, where he pulled out his last cigar.

Sebastian already drank the first bottle of whiskey and was just beginning his second, he was buzzed, but he glanced up at the television screen where he couldn't help but overhear the word mutant. He asked the bartender to turn the volume up.

"Late last night, a pair of Mutants attempted to overturn a convenience store, but were stopped by what appears to have been a rival Mutant attempting to take the winnings for himself. He calls himself Guardian."

Sebastian laughed out loud, so loud that everybody in the bar focused their attention on him. " That son of a bitch, I knew that guy, I was in that stupid mutant academy with him. I tell you fellas not one single person liked me. But this stupid son of a bitch actually got caught hahahaha, I mean I never would have thought that he would do this "

Sebastian continued laughing, he grabbed the whiskey bottle and held it up at the tv. " This one is for you Guardian, you stupid son of a bitch "

Sebastian chugged the bottle and laid his forehead on the counter. Minutes went by when Sebastian woke up to the sound of Siren, the bar was all cleared out and he found himself alone. Within moments a large amounts of people wearing heavy armor marched in the bar.

Sebastian threw the bottle on the floor, He smiled knowing no stupid humans could bring him down. He tried to gather himself to fight them off, but he just ended up passing on the floor.

Sebastian woke up in a dark prison cell, just one small light hanging over him, he was hanging down, all chained up. He had no energy to even try and escape, all he could do was wait.

As Penelope got up, she would find herself face-to-face with Cassandra Noware, teacher of English. She looked different now, than she had a year ago. Her skin was tanned, her nails of normal length. She maintained a slender figure, dressed in a tight-fitting, floor-length black dress and elbow-length matching black gloves. Her lips were painted black, her long, flat black hair framing her pointed features as she spat, "And just what are you so happy about today, Penelope?"

She leaned casually against the wall Penelope had just run into and said, "Running into walls your new hobby? Better keep practicing. That performance was dreadful."

She grinned wickedly and said, "You hear about little Trevor? Got caught with Life in the halls. He's in with Eshe now." Cassandra would run her slender fingers down along Penelope's cheek as she whispered, "I wonder how much it'll take from her to make. Him. Snap." Her grin could not possibly grow wider.

----------

Robert groaned and looked up from his hands as Jason announced himself. He said, "Nah, Jason, I'm good. Just been up all..." He flicked fingers out, one at a time, counting the days. "...week. If I didn't know any better, I'd think Eshe has got Cassandra's power of shadowwalking."

His eyes widened and he shouted, "God dammit, that's it! That's how she disappears!" He ruffled his hair and groaned, "That's so useless, though! How the hell are we going to get Cassandra out of the school?" His brain slowed to a halt and he slouched in his seat. "I got nothing. That woman is slippery, and we've got no way of combating it." He pounded his skull against the back of the couch as he reiterated over and over to himself, under his breath, "Think, think, think, think..."

~

From up above, everyone would hear the manhole cover shift. The television flicked on all on its own and showed Zack and Sam climbing down the ladder into the upstairs loft. The TV switched off as Sam shouted, "We're back!" She bounded down the stairs and leaped over Robert, landing squarely on the last free cushion between him and Gemini. She stretched and relaxed across the two of their laps, head in Gemini's, feet in Robert's. She grumbled, "I'm tired, Gemmy." She pawed at him and pouted, loosing a sound like a meow. Robert seemed not to even notice her legs laying across his lap.

Zack strode down the stairs, holding up several plastic bags, each filled with boxes of breakfast pastries of different kinds. He laughed, "Store didn't have too much today."

Luckily for the Mutants who chose to remain aboveground, there were parts of Milencia which were friendly to them. Specifically: The docks, central park, and downtown, near the Mental Institute. The people living in and around those areas witnessed the events of a year ago and they are fully aware that not all Mutants are so bad. Several stores had begun leaving food drops in hidden locations around Central Park, knowing that they were feeding their defenders. Kitty's impressive sense of smell helped them always find what they were looking for.

Zack dropped the bags on an empty cushion of the couch and said, "Dig in. With the stunt last night, I'm not so sure we'll be seeing many food drops for a while. Happened right across the street from the park." He rubbed the back of his head and asked, "Leonard back yet?"

Robert shrugged. If Leonard was back, he was likely still sleeping.

----------

Kylie grinned and said, "Ah, Heather knew you'd come through for us. What'd you prefer I call you, then? I was just trying to be friendly." She smiled at him.

Once he responded with his preferred means of address, Kylie would address him as such to indicate she had heard him and proceed to explain, "Well Jose and Colton got got last night, and we're running short on food. Gonna be sending you plus one of our more trusted pals up to get something. Not sure of your preferred means, but we usually just steal it from the Humans."

She rubbed her chin and explained, "The nearest exit should spit you out in Downtown, and there's plenty of shops to choose from there. Jenny's Deli is usually a pretty good spot, or you can hit up the chinese place. No Mutant-friendly shops on the strip, unfortunately. Key is you need to be low key, in and out without being TOO flashy. AMTF is about twenty minutes out of the shopping center, so if you get seen or such, you should have enough time to get out safely. Don't be stupid, don't be a hero, blahblahblah." She yawned and stretched. "Back to the wall, it's every man for themselves. Got it? Meet up with Patrick at the exit in I'd say about ten, fifteen minutes and get going. It's early morning, and downtown's usually not too busy this time of day."

----------

Sebastian found himself trapped, hanging upside down, completely at the mercy of his captors. It would be a good few minutes before he would hear something squeak off in the distance. He could see nothing beyond the small light that hung around him.

The light soon cast an eerie glow on the hardened face of a man who was clearly a prominent Military official. He wore a military uniform outfitted with countless commendations, stars, stripes, and awards. His jaw worked itself for a time before he spoke in a dull, raspy tone, "Mutants. Disgusting." The man spat on Sebastian's cheek.
"School, huh? You came from a school, that's what my men are telling me you said." He looked down at a clipboard. "You wanna tell me where this school is? Where these other..." His lip curled in a sneer as he moved in closer into the light, "... abominations are hiding? All of you pieces of shit should be tagged and marked. Then we wouldn't need to look for ya..."

Sebastian, though he might find his anger rising, would also find himself strangely unable to light aflame. The most he would be able to manage would be to increase the temperature of his skin. The fire just refused to come.

The voice of a little hispanic man could be heard nearby as he said, "Don't tell him, hombre. He won' give you shit."

Sebastian moved around hoping he would free himself, but nothing worked. Soon a military official approached him asking him a handful of questions, followed by a spit. Sebastian laughed " Could you like not yell much? You see I have this painful hangover, if you're going to keep yelling at me you might as well shoot me and get it over with. "

Sebastian paused as the spit ran from his forehead to his hair. " As for the school hmm.. do you mean the Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry?
"

Sebastian laughed once more, to him it was entertaining. " Just piss off you ugly fuck, you're not getting shit out of me. "

"Tch, rot then, maggot." The general left the stream of light, and the door swung open and slammed shut behind him. The spotlight hanging over Sebastian died.

The bonds holding Sebastian up would release him, sending him tumbling to the floor of the cell. Before long, his eyes would grow accustomed to the dim light of his surroundings.

He was in one cell among dozens, lining both walls down the length of a long hallway. Across the way, he would see the familiarly disfigured face of Jose Rodriguez, Wasp. Torch and Wasp had encountered each other twice, one year ago, and they were currently tied. One to one. Wasp would wave at Torch and say, "Hola, amigo. What'd they get chu fer?"

Around this time, Torch might begin to hear the heavy breathing that came from his left. A hulking beast of a creature lay there, in his cell, wrapped around behind him as well. Landshark, the half-shark, half-human creature, sat curled there, quite upset as his incarceration. It might take Torch some time to realize that the heavy breathing he heard was actually gentle sobbing.

Penelope looked at Cassandra, flashing her a grin to brush of her first couple of sentences. "Well now it's wrong to be happy?" she responded and then frowned when she heard Trevor had gotten in trouble for bringing Life into the halls. That rule of not being allowed to bring life into the halls made Penelope want to spit. Plant life made everything feel alive, make the world full of, well, life.

Penelope slightly shivered and bit her tongue when Cassandra stroked her cheek. Her grin made Penelope feel uneasy, neither did her whispering when she wondered how much longer Trevor would hold on before finally snapping. "Hmph, I'm guessing it was your fault Trevor got caught in the first place, with the way you're grinning and all that" she folded her arms and half frowned at Cassandra. Trevor was a good boy from what Penelope had seen. She would hate it if he would crack under the pressure. It seemed like he just might though, especially if people were deliberately getting him in trouble.

Sebastian fell to the floor as the man left, he slowly looked around but couldn't see much, he heard a voice that spoke out directly to him.

"Hola, amigo. What'd they get chu fer?"

" Same reason they got you, for being a mutant. " Sebastian paused for a second, he heard some very heavy breathing close by him. At that point he realized he wasn't the only one they captured.

He listened to the breathing closely, The breathing was so heavy that Sebastian thought that whoever it was, was scared.

" Whoever is by me, I hear you breathing heavily. I'm not the best guy to listen to but don't worry, We'll get out of this together. You don't have to be scared okay? "

Sebastian waited for a response. He then turned to the Spanish sounding voice. " How many mutants are there here? And how did they get you? "

"Silv-... Wolfmask. Address me by my proper title. Just don't add your brand of honorifics on it." said Folka, before putting on his mask. He then went to a door located right next to the stairs which lead to a closet. Inside of it was a board which was carefully wrapped in newspapers. One of the main headlines was underlined with red ink, which read "AMTF Successfully Exterminates Lineage Of Mutants." Folka took the board and strapped it on to his back, heading his way to the sewer exit. Just before he left his home, he turned to face Kylie and simply nodded.

As he would arrive at the exit, Folka planned to start the mission exactly at ten minutes from when he left his home. Whether or not this trusted ally would show up was really irrelevant since it was just a food run.

Guardian entered to join the group via the manhole. He was dressed in a long brown trench coat. You could barely see his face if you walked up to him though the others would know exactly who it was. Under the hat and beneath the coat lied Leonard in civilian attire and his face was naked as well. Under the clothing would lie his costume and his zipped up side pockets of his trench coat would lie his mask.

"Evening all." Leonard said as he tipped his hat.

He would then place his hat upon the closest construct that would replace a hat holder.

"I just went around for a quick "exercise." That's all really. So. What's the hub-bub?"

It's been a year since they have left the academy. Damien had disappeared, Sariel had died along with Katie, and the eyes of the majority seemed to cast a burn upon mutants. While his other members who have left the academy seemed depressed and sad he took to the streets. He was sad as well but he knew he had to do something more. For a long time had he wanted to become a "super hero" and the time was right. It would provide him with everything he need. A way to stay sharp, one way to attempt to give mutants a cleaner name, and a way to continue to serve and protect. He knew the city needed him but he wasn't sure if the city knew sometimes...

Jason crouched on the floor in front of the tv. "Hello, Guardian. How are you?" He didn't wait for an answer. He jumped back and sat on the arm of the couch, looking at Robert. "Well, we obviously can't charge right in there. We can get someone to try and infiltrate. You still have control over the school's defenses and surveillance, am I right? It would be a simple matter of just watching and making sure no one is on to the infiltrator." Jason paused, then shook his head. "That might solve how we're going to get in, but the assassination is going to be the difficult part." Jason suddenly bolted up. "Wait! A lockdown! Perfect! We wait until nightfall, and then you shut off the surveillance, and lock all the doors. Then, a chosen assassin, or team of assassins, who are already hiding out at the target's location, will go on her and take her out in one well-placed blow!" He blinked. "Sorry for shouting."

Gemini smiled as he heard Kitty enter, and chuckled a little as she pawed at him and meowed. He lowered a hand to scratch Sam behind one of her ears. "Why not take a nap now, then? I just got up, but from what I know, we're not planning on doing anything yet, Sammy. I get the feeling we'd be discussing plans for a long time even if we were, though." He looked up at Zack as he mentioned that there wasn't much and that this morning's event happened right across from the park. Taking out a pastry and munching on it slowly, he seemed to want to ask Zack something when Leonard barged in.

Listening to the small chat, Gemini addressed Leonard instead as he entered, "'Exercise", Leon? I don't have any problems with you getting that, but it would be nice if you could at least cover your face. With the sight you gave them, someone could follow you back here. They got your face and everything else, making you out to be some sorta stand-alone thug." Gemini frowned at remembering the news this morning. He absolutely abhored their lack of freedom as well, but now was the time they had to be cautious above all else, since they had broken away from the Academy and had nowhere to go without being under the eyes of the Servants. He looked at Jason as he gave an idea on how to get rid of Cassandra. He didn't have a lick of experience actually fighting her, but the plan seemed to be incredibly lacking.

Gemini seemed to struggle with his thoughts, trying to keep them in an intelligible order, "You sure that's a good idea? They're not idiots, you know. They go on lockdown, it's obvious Rob is pulling the strings. Not to mention attacking the school is like a declaration of war. We'd have to catch Cass completely by surprise to get rid of her, and even then, it's not like the whole school would just stand and watch. I'm not against this idea, just sayin' that anyone besides maybe Orias going in would catch hell. Heck, they might even be waiting for us to make the first move and are laying out some bait by having Eshe hide from the cameras."

After saying all of this, Gemini sighed and rubbed his temples with his hands. This much thought given to one subject after he just woke up was giving him a bit of a headache. Cassandra wasn't a pushover. Even Orias hadn't done much to deter her, and the only thing that kept her out of the game a year ago was trading her soul for Sariel's, effectively becoming a Stake. And now Anubis had seen fit to give her back a body.

Jason shrugged. "It's a work in progress. The best I could do without any serious thinking." He leaned forward and rested his head on his hands. "I don't know. I guess i'm getting rusty, not exercising this ol' brain with tactics like these." He leaned back again.

Trevor had not a single clue as to why it was considered a crime to bring flowers to a person who desperately needed them. However, he dared not to question the judgement of the new headmaster, her steely gaze looking down at him in disgust. Instead of logically answering when given opportunity, he simply replied with a "Yes, ma'm" or "No, ma'am" when he found it suitable. Without another word, he walked out of the office, noticing Lauren waiting outside for him, looking thinner and paler, as if she hadn't eaten in a while. He placed his hand on her shoulder, looking to her with a comforting smile. "You look like you need to go get something to eat. C'mon, we'll go see what they are serving right now and we can make it into a picnic. You look like you need to go out for a bit." Trevor suggested, hoping she would agree and eat alongside him and get her mind off of Katie's death from a year ago.
