So I accidentally knocked my R2 button off of my desk the other day and the R2 button popped out. I have most of the pieces to put the button back in place except for the little metal rod that holds two parts in place and I don't know where it is. My floor is black and I have no light in the room so that doesn't exactly help either...

Please help! I don't want to dish out extra money for a new controller so any and all remedies/alternatives would be greatly appreciated.

O_o. Damn. I thought it was something like my problem. My R2 Button is broken but manageable. Uh. Idk I usually go to Youtube for stuff like this. L2/R2 Button Repair for the Dualshock3 Controller - YouTube I think this and the associated videos will help a lot.

Go to a shop that repairs that kinda stuff. You could get it done for relatively cheap.

Throw it out and buy a new one. I know it sucks, but it's the best option.

My best bet is to see if I can fix it first though. If I can't I will buy a new one after.

Sony is a stupid about things like this anyways. I was going to send in my old 80GB Playstation 3, the original version that played old games, once but my mom called up and asked and they said they were probably going to just send us a new console, without the ability of backwards-compatibility to boot...

So I couldn't find a replacement for the piece but I did a little searching and they have it on eBay for $3.99. Should I go for it or not? I'm paying 4 dollars for a little piece, but the piece is the difference between fixing my controller and not having it fixed. What do I do here?

$4 << $55

do the math.

I would at least call Sony first just to see, even for paid scenerios which might be in your price range.

I "fixed" my R1 button by cutting off the plastic in front of it so I could get to it. That was only after I tried a bunch of shit. So, yeah. I would only do that as a last resort.
