I've decided to go with the gaming laptop and can the idea of making my own build. Reasons for this include the gaming on the go benefit, as well as the major factor that I need a new laptop. I can't get both separately since I have a 1400 bucks budget. I decided on this beautiful machine.

It leaves me enough money spare to buy a cooling pad and a nice gamebad. It also has the portability and the durability most gaming laptops dont have. Just take a look at those hinges O:

The only thing I'm iffy about, though, is that it's not upgradable to an SSD. It's not a deal breaker, but it's kinda a big deal. The G75 does have that option, though. The problem with that is the huge size and the weight. :/ Not sure if good trade off. Advice?

Being the big guy I am there's no such thing as a laptop thats too big (within reason). It probably has a bigger screen which is a plus in my book. A SSD can be really nice for things you don't constantly change (limited number of rewrites on SSD) and use often (faster load times than HDD).

Yeah, that's what has me confused. :/ There IS such a thing as too big for me. I dont want to lug around a 10 pound laptop to class everyday. Being a commuter means I have to carry it around all day, too. Which is not good. >__>

See that's not a problem for me, since I can easily carry around a 50 lb backpack no problem.

Not having a SSD is pretty fine. From what I've seen though what youre looking at buying is pretty damn great. I have a 6 gb, AMD quad core and it runs so smoothly. So you going with what you are, you should have no problems with gaming at all really.
