Is what Paul Clements, a lawyer hired by the Republican party claims.

In short, gays and lesbians are one of the most influential, best-connected, best-funded, and best organized interest groups in modern politics, and have attained more legislative victories, political power, and popular favor in less time than virtually any other group in American history. . . . Gays and lesbians not only have the attention of lawmakers, they are winning many legislative battles. And the importance of this factor in the analysis cannot be gainsaid. . . . [G]iven that the ultimate inquiry focuses on whether a group needs the special intervention of the courts or whether issues should be left for the democratic process, the political strength of gays and lesbians in the political process should be outcome determinative here.

I find this utterly amusing. It's like the conservatives have run out of excuses for their homophobia and are resorting to making up bullshit. Read more on this here

It's not "it's like" It is. They're trying to hold on to their beliefs because they are afraid.

> as if any of this is a surprise

Gay movement always been getting shit from all sides, and in politics, scapegoats and mudslinging are staples. Repubs trynna undermine them is about as new as sliced bread.

By the way, it's just 'Clement', not 'Clements'.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

I'm not gonna read 60 pages of wut but from what I've read from the article this is rubbish. Excuse me someone needs to slap some republicans and tell that it's fine if gay people  or(whatever else is biting your butt) is against your religion but if you start bringing this shiz into politics then you're not fit to lead a country. That's your own personal belief (which is what lots of other politicians understand) and so it should have no place in politics. Bleh, then there's this statement.

"gays and lesbians are one of the most influential, best-connected, best-funded, and best organized interest groups in modern politics, and have attained more legislative victories, political power, and popular favor in less time than virtually any other group in American history"

In a way isn't he just saying that they'd do a better job than repubs and himself in politics? I mean he's kinda putting them up on a high pedestal rather than making them sound threatening.
