Instead of cluttering up the OoC with my offtopic sketches, I'll just make this thread instead.

 

In an effort to refine my skills and force myself to draw, I decided that I wanted to try and sketch a few of our more active HoM kids.

 

Recently I finished the flats for Nate (which is how far I'm taking these sketches, so he's basically done) and I've started work on Axel.

 

I don't know how often I'll update this thread but I am trying to draw every day, so hopefully I can get through all of them.

 

Currently I have the following people planned:

 

Nate (me) [Flats]

Axel (Kingroy)

Ari (Lexaeus)

Jack (Igshar)

Ellie (Zal)

Shine (Dreamie)

 

If I can get through those I'd start working my way to newer characters like Dale, Zoey, Amala, Rose, Jason, Ken, and whoever else is still active when I get to them.

 

Anyway, current Axel progress:

I love how you made Axel look like a wolf/beast. I'm not even bragging, he seriously looks rough and near feral.

It never occurred to me until now, but... I've never made a skin tone for someone who was black before. As such, I'm pretty lost. I have the current color scheme in mind. Top is skin tone. I'm leaning towards 1, but maybe somewhere between 1 and 2. 4 is where i started (so you can tell how clueless i am.

 

Whites below are for his eyes and hair (the brightest is pure white [ffffff]) which will come in on his shorts. The dark red is for the shorts and the green/yellow/red is for the jersey.

I still dunno about his profile foot (I may turn the leg three-quarters instead, but that's a lot more effort than I'm interested in right now) but other than that I'm pretty happy. A few things seem kind of off, but it's not too bad. Quick tweaks and proportion alignment and shit.

The way his hip is popped out >_>;; It's going to be the only thing I think of from now on when I see a post from roy now... I love the pic btw it's probably my own insanity that makes me think these things, ignore them.

Axel's feet are uneven; that's the issue. It's easy to see by just comparing the tops of his shoes. The profile foot's is lower than the front-on foot's. That's the issue. >.> But I would go for a 3/4 view of that profile foot since his stance is really awkward right now. I don't know anybody who comfortably stands with their feet at right angles to one another.

Goku stands like that. @Zal You mad cause Ellie's hips lie like a rug....LIKE A RUG. I like it a lot. I guess there is the feet thing but I'm not cool enough to point out that stuff. Still looks cooler than 90% of the student body. Yes. Even Pike aint holding a torch to this.
