Yea, I went back and got all the enemy skills that can be gotten so far. I can get the gil fairly easily honestly. Hell, even going back to Junon and hitting the alarm will make me fight enemies that drop 1,000ish gil a battle along with 2,000 exp a battle. But I really really don't feel like backtracking. I'm just going to get Tiny Bronco then go back. I'll be getting the at least three each of the HP and MP while I'm there... I didn't want to just go back with 8,000. Wanted to be able to get three of each then head back. >_> It'll be a little while but whatever... I'll get Cid and makes things even more awesome.

I never bought more than one, because I rarely really use HP Up until the endish of the game. Always felt like a wasted slot. Then when I start using it, it'll level up and give me a baby one, and that's how I expanded my stock.

Does that mean you got Beta and Chocobuckle? XD

Yes sir~ I got Beta earlyish on. I got all limits for my three characters and just kicked his ass before he could take me out. >.>

But uh, lol. Chocobuckle does literally nothing. Like... really... I haven't escaped any battles that I can remember... When I figured out how it increased a long time ago I just spend hours running in and out of battles to level it up. >___>; 1,000+ Damage for 3 MP is freaking awesome. Especially really early on in the game.

That reminds me to get all Enemy Skill materia this time before getting Trine...

I kind of want to start this game over once more, but I need an idea on what I may want to do to challenge myself.

I've seen the initial weapons no materia level 1 challenges but those evolve into just throwing items, which i find boring.

Maybe a low level playthrough? Someone wanna try and figure out some attainable goals I can aim for in terms of must be <= X at Y part of the game? Maybe some restrictions like no KOTR or something like this. Any thoughts?

Low level playthroughs can be hard in a way... but if you know what you're doing with Materia and know good strategies it shouldn't be hard... I mean.. use put self in Sadness and get reduced damage. You can try not using Back Row at all along with always in Fury to take more damage? Along with going a low level and/or no Summon Materia. >_>;

I'd half want to say try going through with a set group of people. Like... Cloud, Barret, Nanaki. But it could be a bit hard when you have to make groups that don't include all three... :x

I don't care if the playthrough is nails tough or anything, I just want to get a new experience out of the game that I don't normally get. Low level would discourage farming for Carbon Bangles/Hardedge/Golden Bangles/Shinra Beta and all of that kind of stuff. I don't mind if it's difficult, because I can handle difficult. Normally by the end of the game my characters are way too strong that Safer Sephiroth has literally never been a problem for me and I have never once fought Bizarro Sephiroth for real.

Hmm... in that case perhaps try a low level run with not using any Support or Independent Materia at all? No Counter Attack... No Alls... >_>; That could be a tad bit annoying and Challenging. Perhaps no accessory allowed would make things even worse. I know a good few times where it's... almost needed. Especially using a Ribbon, Bad Breath is real bad without it...

I've never really tried doing a hard playthrough to be honest. Hardest one I ever had was my first I believe. Or even second one. Just went through the story without leveling at all, without getting any really really strong equipments and sort of got my ass kicked and barely managed to survive in Northern Crater...

What's the hardest type of playthrough you've done so far? O.o And I'm guessing you'll be trying the Weapons as well?

The hardest for me was a self imposed low level play where i did not allow myself to stand around and fight enemies and just blew through the game. I think I hit the second disc and something else took my attention from it. I don't remember why. I don't usually do difficult playthroughs/level 1 plays at all, so this is something new for me XD

I like that idea of Just Green/Yellow/Red materia because I tend to not touch summons at all. I kind of like that. I may do that one once I'm finally done being addicted to Dissidia 012.

Doing WEAPONS with no support Materia is impossible I feel. Final Attack alone is needed, not to mention HP Ups and other things like that.

No accessories would be difficult. How else do you fight Jenova Life without the Water Ring? I don't even know. Leviathan/Elemental in armor, but no Support means I can't even do that O: Would be challenging.

That's one thing I have to admit. The MP costs are really retarded in the game. KotR? Sure. Let that be 250. I'm fine with that. The damn thing acts 13 times. That's fine. Odin being 80 MP? Okay. Chance at autokilling something should cost a lot. Neo Bahamut costing 140 MP for only 9,999 at max? The hell. Why not spend the 250 to deal way over that? Or even why not just use 50ish MP and cast Fire 3. Assuming my Magic is high enough I'll deal nice damage and be able to do it 2 more times for basically the same cost. Hell, even Contain magics are somewhat bad in costs. Ultima being 130 is crap as well. Sure it hits all enemies, but again, I could cast Fire 3 almost 3 times and equal that. Of course if you pair things with MP Absorb it doesn't matter TOO much but still. I'd like the Magic system to actually allow you to have a team of mages and fight. I tried to go all magic ones and I had to spend so much time getting Ether after Ether to have me do it. At least an MP healing spell would have been nice. I did like Aerith's final limit for that reason, Full HP and MP heal.

Magic Hammer is your most reliable source of MP recovery. That and Mug + MP Absorb would make for a good reliable way to get your mp back for your mages that doesn't rely on ethers. However, the damage ability of green magic is terrible. Bolt 3 and the like cap out for me around 3000 damage. I smack with sword for 6. Why use magic when my free physical attack is better? >.> MP costs are kind of silly. It could have used a Half MP materia, but... that's life.

Half MP Cost Materia would be rather excellent. It'd make mages actually worth going full magic.

Another thing I always found funny was that I never used Cure3. Like... ever. Once I get Regen it was the only thing I'd use. I wouldn't really even use Fullcure. I don't see why anyone wouldn't use Regen at the start of some boss battle or really hard battle...

If they ever do remake it, I'd like to see a better magic system. Along with harder enemies really. Maybe a New game+ File where enemies stats are doubled up to make it more of a challenge? That'd be pretty nice. Most challenging thing can be the Battle Arena at times. Hit the wrong slot and you're screwed. I keep getting that damn Tonberry in it. He'd always move 4 times and kill me. Jackass has I believe 30,000 HP >_o I could only knock off about 7,000 a hit so was just shy each and every time.

So I just defeated Guard Scorpion at the lowest level I ever had -no accomplishment- as I ran from every fight I got into. Kind of depressingly bad. Aiming for around level 8 for Air Buster I think. I might max out at 9 or 10 for him. Thoughts?

Barret: "Look... you can see the surface now. This city don't have no day or night. If that plate weren't there... we could see the sky."

Cloud: "A floating city... Pretty unsettling scenery."

Barret: "Huh? Never expect ta hear that outta someone like you... you jes' full of surprises. The upper world... a city on a plate... It's 'cuz of that &^#$# 'pizza', that people underneath are sufferin'! And the city below is full of polluted air. On topa that, the Reactor keeps drainin' up all the energy."

Cloud: "Then why doesn't everyone move onto the Plate?"

Barret: "Dunno. Probably 'cuz they ain't got no money. Or, maybe... 'Cuz they love their land, no matter how polluted it gets."

Cloud: "I know... no one lives in the slums because they want to. It's like this train. It can't run anywhere except where its rails take it."

None of the fights in Midgar or even up till you get to near Junon are really hard. I mean... if you go into the forest around Junon you have those weird plant/root things that will destroy you. Great for getting limits up though... Try to maybe get to Junon before reaching level 11/12? I think that might be kinda hard. I know that Corel might be a bit tough at a lower level though.

I mean, you can try fighting the Midgar Zolom if you want :O I saw someone beat him with a level 4 Tifa so it's possible...

And oh man, I remember that scene. I loved it. It really was one of the parts in FF VII that not many quote or talk about tbh. But it was one that really got you thinking and really hit you, at least to me it did.

Just be sure you understand the enemies you're talking about. This means Air Buster, Aps, Reno, Sample, Two machines on the elevators, Rufus, and that twin fire boss at the end of the highway.

I don't think I can physically be under level 11 or 12 by the end of just those fights. I'll do what I can but we'll see. The issue is that I'll have like no cash for anything, which is gonna make things tough. Debating between low level + All materia aside from Summons or I'm going normal game no support/indie materia. Hmm.

Yea, I understand. >_>; I know it's stupid hard but I've seen someone at level 13 for Junon... The main thing is just like you said, the low money. Without that... you really can't buy anything good to help you out. Have to go through with some pretty weak things unless you steal from some people. :/ At least you'll be able to get Yuffie, she's really fast, so she can easily steal things pretty quickly. Not to mention if you use her and Aerith, you have two people with limits that can heal you <_<;

And uh... I really don't remember... but... Why is it that Contain doesn't work with All materia? >_>; It just attacks one enemy...

I think it's because Contain is supposed to be super high level elemental magic (Wind, Fire, Water, Earth) and has status effects associated with them, so maybe they thought it would be too overpowered to hit all? I don't really know to be honest.

Barret: "You workin' for Shinra?" *Points gun-arm at guy on train*

Guy on Train: "I won't give in to violence... and I'm not giving you my seat either!"

Okay, I still don't understand this part. The train has a security ID checkpoint where it scans the riders and their IDs, so Jessie makes them fake IDs. Then when you go to Sector 5's reactor, all of a sudden Barret says you can't use the IDs anymore so you'll have to jump.

Then Jessie later says that it was her fault because she made Cloud's ID special because she has the hots for him and he saved her that one time so as not to get blown up himself.

I'm assuming there's a mistranslation somewhere there and that they were gonna use their IDs again but they failed because she messed up Cloud's.

President Shinra: "And such a waste of good fireworks, just to get rid of vermin like you..."

Barret: "VERMIN!? That's all you can say... VERMIN! Y'all Shinra're the VERMIN, killing the planet! And that makes you King VERMIN! So shu'up jackass!"

Defeated Air Buster at level 7,6,4 with Cloud/Barret/Tifa (obviously). I learned that Big Bomber runs out of ammunition. What a joke :\

I'm really worried about the upcoming Aps fight. My Aerith is level 3 and my Tifa is level 5 after the Air Buster fight. I just don't know how I'm gonna be able to heal enough from that sewer tsunami attack and down him. I purchased a fire materia for Aerith since that's his weakness, but still... He's gonna be tough to take down at 8/3/5. Aerith is sitting at 196 hp total. Scary stuff.

[Edit]
I fought once in Sector 5 Slums against four of those worm things to get some cash for the Materia shop cross-dressing quest, so Aerith hit level 4 (98 EXP and she needed 60 to the next level).

I forgot about Healing Wind (somehow) so I Hyper'd her just in case, but I only needed a single cure-all against Aps as he used the Tsunami that came from behind him three times. He even used the rare Lick attack on Tifa that sadnessed her (ughh). He went down real easy unfortunately. A little disappointed. Levels were 8/4/5. Aerith gained two levels, so now I'm sitting at 8/6/6.

Grabbing steal and rushing through the Graveyard hoping to hit one of the guys that carries the Striking Staff for a quick steal and run.

Also stealing from any Deenglows I find because Ethers are super awesome to sell for a quick 750. Since I never really use them, and you can sell one either and basically pay for a tent...

[Edit 2] Got a Striking Staff luckily and a handful of Ethers. Climbed the tower with no issue and beat down Reno without difficulty. Now levels 9/8/7 for Cloud/Barret/Tifa. Unlikely at this rate to hit Junon at level 12, but I'll give it my best shot.

Valor Nostalgia Event Number 1:

First moment I realized I absolutely adored this game:

When Reno blows the pillar and Sector 7 comes crashing down. The camera pans back to see President Shinra watching it from his ivory tower with opera music playing in his office. So stereotypically evil and I just loved every moment of it.

Ahh, that Scene was always one to remember for me. I love how Shinra changes throughout the game. Even into the AC and DoC. I hated Shinra, for a very long time, then I started to like them even if only a small bit. Sure they did some terrible things, but they actually tried at the end to fight for the planet. Even if they only meant to do it for themselves they still tried to stop the Weapons and take down Sephiroth. Shinra is the reason that Cloud and the gang were even able to get to Sephiroth in the first place.

And... I just remembered why Tifa was so good and so terrible at the same time. Her Premium Heart is a nice weapon. Only when she has about 1/3 of her limit gauge filled or more. Otherwise she does some terrible damage... 300 damage while at level 80? Erggh. If her limit gauge is far enough she's a beast. And I just use Sadness on her to keep her from gaining too fast after a certain point. Then finally let her use limit when she gets it, then give her Fury Status, get her limit up, then Sadden her again. It's kinda cheap but whatever... It allows me to use her without resorting to God's Hand or Master Fist. Both of which are god like when using Curse Ring just to say. Always hit 6,000+ Damage against anything. Even more with Master Fist + Curse Ring + Sadness. 5x normal damage with them. Always hitting 9,999. :x I love that the effects stack for her weapons~ It's pretty cool.

Speaking on Weapons, I have to get Flayer for Cid. 100 Weapon Str is pretty awesome. Have to get 5,000 points in Speed Square though. Never really been a fan of that game...

And... does anyone know what the highest spd or a chocobo is? I have three at 162, can't get any higher... but yet I see some with 165 and 169. I know TIEOH or whatever will always be higher then me and he's at 178. >_>;

While it's true that Shinra was the reason they were able to make it into the Northern Crater, they never really turned good. They only defended themselves because they were the only area that was really going to be attacked by the Weapons, and I'm pretty sure Diamond Weapon marched on Midgar because they brought the Sister Ray there and the amount of energy they were going to use to fire the one shot was massive. I don't like Shinra at all, especially not Rufus. I like the Turks, because they're a much more free organization than one would expect.

I don't see why with the Premium Heart you wouldn't keep her limit gauge filled and just give her mug + added cut if you really wanted it. That would give her essentially a double cut you can use while having attack command filled up with Limit. I do like that Master Fist set up and I should confess I never looked into the extra effects of her weapons at all because in-game the text is vague to say the least. Her Powersoul also quadruples damage if she's in Death Sentence, but the Sadness + Cursed Ring + Master Fist gives you 5x damage. I may select Powersoul over Master Fist just because you get Limit faster.

Speed Square is a bitch to do, without a doubt. I've played that game a lot trying to get Umbrella and Flayer, so I've gotten decent enough at it where I score ~4800 most every run. 5000 isn't easy. You need to know basically every trick and have stellar aim.

Pretty sure I've had gold chocobos hit 170 or so. My memory may not be accurate, but I could swear I've seen Teioh with 212 speed before.

Rufus is pretty damn evil. But I don't know. I just like him in someways really. AC made me like him more actually. Playinh Kadaj as a fool and having Jenova with him the whole time. And, from what I know, he's the one paying for that whole WRO that Reeve is controlling. I don't see how it can help him get back to any sort of power with giving them money really... I think in DoC it said that he owed the planet a lot so him giving them the funds to keep going was his way of paying it back or so? Idk. Haven't played DoC in ages.

I do like all the Turks really. From Elena all the way to Rude. Reno and Rude are probably top two favorite really. Not like we've seen much of the other two. Tseng is pretty cool from what I've seen of him. I really want to play Before Crisis to play as some of the other Turks.

Eh... It's sort of an OCD for me with limits. Once someone hits a limit I almost always have to use it. It starts bothering me really bad when I see those damn letters constantly changing and blinking... But I guess I can try Mug + Added Cut. Should pretty good with her. I needed another thief other then Yuffie anyway :x Powersoul with Curse Ring is pretty nice too. I used that early on when I first got both, shit was pretty nice. I kept her in the part until she started to get outclassed yet again. I liked the double materia growth on Powersoul though. That's really nice. Though, I think it doesn't have linked slots. But use a Wizards Bracelet and you're fine really.

Tried about 50 times now... haven't gotten over 4600 >_o There has to be sort of trick to getting this... I know in the PC version it's easier since you can hit something for 5,000 points I believe.

And yea... 176 seems to be the max for Chocobos. So all those 200+ Chocobos I see are just Gameshark or PC haxxing ones. >_> Damn.

His father was much more evil and whatnot, but when I get to his speech atop Shinra HQ I'll transcribe it again because that's the kind of guy he is. I never found his whole change of heart very believable, and I still think he wants to profit from the planet in some way. That could just be me being jaded though.

I do like all the Turks really. From Elena all the way to Rude. Reno and Rude are probably top two favorite really. Not like we've seen much of the other two. Tseng is pretty cool from what I've seen of him. I really want to play Before Crisis to play as some of the other Turks.

Tseng is pretty prominent at the start of the game and even his whole death scene or what have you in the Temple of the Ancients. Reeve also is Cait Sith (zomg spoilers) so the entire Turks outfit is pretty developed during the course of the game aside from probably Elena. Cissnei is probably one of my favorite Turks, and it's a shame that she's apparently only in Crisis Core as being the "player character" from BC.

Eh... It's sort of an OCD for me with limits. Once someone hits a limit I almost always have to use it.

Using poor battle tactics >.> I save my limit breaks a lot since they appear to get more powerful the longer you don't use them. I usually down Air Buster at the start of the game with just Braver and Big Shot.

It starts bothering me really bad when I see those damn letters constantly changing and blinking... But I guess I can try Mug + Added Cut. Should pretty good with her. I needed another thief other then Yuffie anyway

I only say mug because it's a command physical attack and added cut will make that a double cut so you're hitting twice instead of once. It's not as good as 4x cut, but the purpose of it is damage, not really stealing, obviously XD

Though, I think it doesn't have linked slots. But use a Wizards Bracelet and you're fine really.

If memory serves the Powersoul is 2 unlinked, and wasting a Wizard's Bracelet on Tifa is funny when you can toss that on someone like Cait Sith/Yuffie/Vincent and they can use it much more effectively. That + Back Row = good amount of defense as physical attacks are cut in 1/2 and magic attacks are lulz tier with the mag def on that thing. Tifa will need to be front line or waste a materia slot with Long range, which while good, is better served on someone like Cloud in my opinion.

Tried about 50 times now... haven't gotten over 4600 >_o There has to be sort of trick to getting this... I know in the PC version it's easier since you can hit something for 5,000 points I believe.

There's a rock atop a wall you can hit for something like 300 points, destroying the alien ship, hitting the rotor of the motor boat, and more often than not... just don't miss things very often and you should in theory be able to get it. A large part of it is killing enough things especially in the ice part where the floating fluff balls are like 70 points a kill and icicles are something like 30-50.

And yea... 176 seems to be the max for Chocobos. So all those 200+ Chocobos I see are just Gameshark or PC haxxing ones. >_> Damn.

To be honest you don't even need that much speed. If you race correctly you should beat Teioh 9/10 times. He only beats my gold Chocobo very very very rarely.
