ily, Iggy :>

Maybe we took Kevin Feige's words out of context. He said "we're not setting up the Kree-Skull War or anything, but the alien force in the film has a huge impact in the comics."

"Who said they were aliens?" he teases. (Beings from the Nine Realms, then, ventures Empire?) "Closer...It's not Skrulls, I've been clear about that. Beyond that, we want to hide it. The identity of the alien race is not imapctful. It exists in the comic books, but we're not setting up the Kree-Skrull war or anything like that."

That was the actual interview.

I want to stab him in the face. Multiple times.

See he says "It's not Skrulls" so that your attention is drawn there and you slowly begin to accept that. Then when it is Skrulls he can say haha fooled you man we hid that so well. Because he's an idiot.

But maybe it's just Dire Wraiths?

Hydraulx SFX supervisor Chris Wells has been out and about, promoting his visuals on the just released Blu-ray for last year's acclaimed drama Take Shelter. While speaking with Starburst Magazine, he opened up about working with Joss Whedon on this summer's highly anticipated Marvel's The Avengers, and remarked that it's the best comic book movie that he has worked on to date.

Wells has seen a rough cut of the entire movie and confirms that it is never "boring", and that it's the film comic book fans have been waiting for. He also revealed that Marvel's The Avengers opens with a pretty amazing prologue.

"We're doing what essentially boils down to the prelude of the movie. There's a whole intro that happens before you start even getting the titles and it's pretty big. There's nothing small in this movie. I went to a screening with all the temporary visual effects and it was pretty fleshed out. It's a long movie but it doesn't feel like it. Out of all the comic book movies and franchises I've worked on, this is the best one I've seen so far."

Chris Wells then went onto confirm that because of the film's running time, it is able to be action heavy without losing any of the character-oriented moments that have become a defining signature of Joss Whedon's work as both a writer and a director.

"I think they nailed both. Joss and I have worked on some projects before and he does a very good job with characters. Since this is the first time that we see these guys together as a unit, he had to address all their personal dealings with one another. I think he did a very good job of setting up the characters based on what we know from the Marvel franchise, integrating them together with all their differences and similarities and then getting on with business. And just when you think the movie is a character piece it just goes nuts."

Lastly, he went onto praise the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) specifically, emphasizing the fact that Marvel's The Avengers is not a film that drags on in dialogue or slow moments of unnecessary storytelling.

"I promise you it's not going to be boring. This thing has gone so big that Marvel are dwarfing their other franchises. For people who enjoy the comics and haven't really liked the way some of the characters were treated in other movies, I think they're going to be a little more appeased by this one. Especially the Hulk. They let the Hulk be Hulk and that's great. He acts more like the comic book Hulk."

Marvel will release a three issue lead-in comic book miniseries for Marvel's The Avengers titled Black Widow Strikes that revolves around Scarlett Johansson's S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Natasha Romanov, timed to the May release of the movie in theaters. The story finds Black Widow heading to Russia to deal with an international crisis. The cover of the first issue has been released, which you can check out below.

Says comic writer Fred Van Lente.

"Black Widow is running down some loose ends from Iron Man 2, namely some bootleg Stark technology that Justin Hammer made. It's her and Agent Coulson going into Russia, but you'll also probably see Nick Fury and the other heroes as necessary... I've [also] given Black Widow a kind of fan/stalker--a freelance espionage operator who has modeled herself on Black Widow. She's attempting to usurp the Black Widow title from Natasha, so these two are in competition with one another."

This comic will first be released in Maxim Russia before hitting shelves here in the states.

Marvel's The Avengers comes to theaters May 4th, 2012 and stars Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Robert Downey Jr., Cobie Smulders, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson. The film is directed by Joss Whedon.

There's been a lot of back and forth about the alien race that invades Earth in Marvel's The Avengers. It has long been rumored that these deadly intruders are either Skrulls, or The Kree. Joss Whedon has flatly denied this. But then a toy image will pop-up on line to support that Joss is just being coy.

Today, reporting in from SXSW, Joss Whedon has once again confirmed that neither Skrulls nor the Kree will be making any kind of appearance in Marvel's The Avengers when it debuts in theaters this May. He offers a couple of reasons why they aren't included. Mainly the fact that both alien races, so popular in the Marvel Universe, have far too much backstory to explore in a two hour film that has seven lead characters.

Here is Joss Whedon's statement on the aliens we've glimpsed in the most recently released trailer and the Lego sets.

"It's the Vulcans. I don't know a lot about the Marvel universe, and I thought there were Vulcans. I know we're going to get a lot of emails about that one...I will say only this: It is not the Kree or the Skrulls.

Those two aliens are Marvel mainstays and have enormous back stories. They have a big life of their own that just could not be contained in a film where I already had seven movie stars.

The Skrulls...They can shape change. That's a whole thing. I've already got Loki. He's got magic. Once you got magic along with your Iron Man and your Black Widow...It's a real juggling act."

Joss Whedon also talked about his budget, and that he wanted to build his own limitations on what the film could be despite his vast resources.

"When you can have everything, everybody wants to give you everything, and then it's very hard to make things feel real. To make things feel lived in. So we had to work hard at taking the big budget out of the movie. Too much Scrooge is not a good thing. We have to think more creatively about cutting the budget and limiting ourselves."

It has long been speculated that Walt Disney Pictures does not own the rights to use The Kree nor Skrulls in this particular franchise, because those rights are with another studio. It is believed that the aliens in Marvel's The Avengers are a generic alien race based off both the Kree and Skrull, changed just enough as to not cause any legal issues.

It has been rumored that either the Kree, a scientifically and technologically advanced militaristic alien race, or Skrulls, an alien race of shape shifters bent on taking over the Earth, will appear in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot at 20th Century Fox.

Marvel's The Avengers comes to theaters May 4th, 2012 and stars Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Robert Downey Jr., Cobie Smulders, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson. The film is directed by Joss Whedon.

We're just a few months away from Marvel's The Avengers taking theaters by storm starting May 4, which is right around the time Marvel will begin production on Iron Man 3, set for release May 3, 2013. We still don't know much about the story of Iron Man 3, although a new rumor indicates Tony Stark will come in contact with Extremis. Here's a description of Extremis below.

"It's a technology-based solution to replicate the Super Soldier serum that turns Steve Rogers into Captain America."

The technology involved deals with nanobots, which are first used by terrorists and later implemented by Tony Stark to enhance his Iron Man suit and give him added super powers. This report also includes the news that Iron Man 3 will feature multiple villains. It is believed that there will be information embedded inside Marvel's The Avengers that will give us background leading into Iron Man 3.

Shane Black is directing Iron Man 3 from a screenplay by Drew Pearce. None of this has been confirmed by Marvel Studios yet, but if these developments turn out to be true, it could make Iron Man 3 a very intriguing sequel.

Iron Man 3 comes to theaters May 3rd, 2013 and stars Robert Downey Jr.. The film is directed by Shane Black.

Lame. I was really hoping for Annihilus and the Negative Zone. It made for some rather interesting plot ideas.

> Annihilus and the Negative Zone.

Only two more weeks, guys. I keep throwing money at the screen when they show the TV spots, but I don't have tickets yet. D:

GTFO, then.

So, after The Avengers is released, Marvel will move forward with "Phase II" of their Cinematic Universe, which will include Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Cap 2, Guardians of the Galaxy, War Machine spinoff, Ant-Man, Hawkeye/SHIELD, Doctor Strange, Inhumans, Iron Fist (hinted at), Black Panther (most likely still in pre-development stages), and then Avengers 2.

Which of these will you be excited to see the most (other than Avengers 2)? For me, I'm DYING for a Guardians of the Galaxy film and a combo film of Hawkeye, Black Widow, and SHIELD.
