SOOOOOO. I've decided I'm gonna roll Evelynn Rydell from the old Space Theatre as my character to play with you all. I propose a reunion of Space Theatre with anyone who participated. BECAUSE IT WOULD BE AWESOME. Val said he's on-board to make Galen, and Artebutt already made Artemis, who's likely gonna be our White Mage.

 

I think this will be super wonderful the more peeps we can get to play along with it. IT WOULD BE LOTS OF FUN.

How far did you go? What level are you?

 

 

I can't even get into Cactuar yet, so yeah. My Evelynn character is "made" but I haven't started her yet. She'll roll into Cactuar if it ever opens again later today. Otherwise, I'm not gonna be back in playing until release, because I don't think I have an early access code, and even if I did I don't honestly care enough to do so. The game is loads of fun, though; I made a Thaumaturge (Jack Fross) on Faerie to actually you know play the game and it's been lots of fun so far. I'm like level 6, almost 7, and that'll be who I play until I can get in Cactuar with everyone.

Likewise with Iggy, I was playing a catbro marauder over on Lamia for a while this afternoon on Iggy's account. Game is definitely kind of fun, but I feel nubbish when it comes to targeting large quantities of enemies and players, like in the FATE stuff. For some reason the targeting loves to give me other players.

 

Aside from those, everything else has been pretty enjoyable and I got around level 9 before calling it.

Yeah the targeting is definitely a problem. It's to many occurrences when multiple people are attacking a enemy on a FATE and we all keep switching off to each other and can't even see to realize. Fights have a little bit of lag too, but that's to be expected somrwhat. Ok so I don't think I'm going to play any more this weekend but I got my conjuring up to level 15 and Lancer up to 5. crafting is definitely a fun experience, it's easy enough to understand but hard enough for you want to continue leveling so you can get better an make higher quality items. This game is definitely fun, second run through and my opinion is still the same. I really hope to see some of you on full release and we create that FC.

I've been having lag problems but after analyzing the problem I think its my ISP's fault. Mediacom disappoints me yet again. But its kind of difficult to do anything with that problem. Anyway, on Cactuar I have a lvl 12 Lexabelle Lancer, but I also found myself walking all the way to Ul'dah from The Shroud. That was fun, lots of high-level baddies to be avoided. So I have archer, conjurer, gladiator, thaumaturge, and pugilist at the ready, just insert leveling. Game's fun, but if I going to invest time into I would like to have pals around. Only "mmos" I've really played were infernos.

Pro tip, target with X for nearest enemy rather than using the directional buttons.

I primarily use X to target, but I end up targetting on friendly NPCs or players when I'm staring at a monster I want to axe in the face.

 

I think it's just gonna take some more practice instead of my initial impressions. I was clumsy at combat to start with, but by the end of my session I was definitely getting the hang of it.

 

We are def gonna need a decent team put together for harder mobs and stuff in this game, I can tell that already. It was kind of fun to randomly team up with a bunch of guys around to down the level 12 and 17 monsters skulking around, though. Especially when we were all level like 6 or lower.

What I posted about is all that I did. I'm still debating on what character to run for myself, since I'm gonna be playing mostly from Iggy's PSN account so that we only have a single sub fee between the two of us for now.

 

Iggy says that he has early access, so if that's true I'll be making a new character when early access starts on Cactuar. I'm not sure what I'm going to settle on just yet, but I'll let everyone know when I make it.

I managed to get into Cactuar this morning *finally* and hit level 9 with Evelynn the Lancer. ALMOST to 10. Just ran out of time before I could finish my quest to hit 10. D: I had to teleport to a sanctuary to log off and didn't wanna risk missing that just for a bit of extra xp right now.

 

And an actual protip unlike the poopy one Dion thinks is a protip for targeting - if you go to System in the menu, to Character Settings or w/e it's called, there's a whole section on targeting. You can activate a whole secondary set of four (each mapped to L1+face button) target cycling options which you can customize as you see fit to only target certain target types. By default, they have them set up for Party, Friends, Enemies, and All. It's infinitely better and more precise than flipping through with the D-pad. However, this ENTIRE FEATURE is disabled by default. You need to turn it on to use it.

 

I'm gonna be playing in Early Access, but only until I hit around 15, maybe 20 with Lancer, since all I really wanna do is get access to the other cities before release hits so I can actually... play with things. Like I said originally, I'll be maining Lancer/Dragoon and I'm also gonna make Evelynn into a pretty wicked Conjurer/White Mage, so I'd be down for running either role when it comes to doing raids and other party stuff in mid-late game.

That one works well, I guess. Ive not had problems with targeting using X. I'll try out what you said when I get the EA client. o.o

 

I hit level 16 with Lancer, level 5 with Thaumaturge and was about to get started with Gladiator but I called it a day at around 4-5 PM yesterday so yeah. I think I'm around where I want to be.

 

I'll be maining Gladiator/Paladin, I think. If not that, I'd go for Monk at least, since I can get something out of my Lancer level. I enjoyed playing as a Lancer, but I think GLA and PLA have shit ton better equip options. >_>;

Genius me said Conjuring but I meant Goldsmith. My Pugilist had reached level 17 I believe though. If you guys are up for early access I'm definitely down we can roll do a little bit of damage. If we have a good enough squad by the time it's released we will be in the upper tier of quest soon and I'm hearing those are amazing.
