Q: What is this thread?

A: Well before I can really answer that I must explain where the interest check of this comes from.

So, the skinny is my roommate and I began playing a Dungeons & Dragons Game with three friends of ours two months ago. That's the Dungeon Master and four players. We've been playing on average every 1.5 weeks for normally about 6 hours a session. We've recently learned two of our group will be moving to far away from our current location and so this means that if we wish to continue we must look for new mediums for communications. I immediately told the DM (Dungeon Master) the joy that RPTools is and how this in conjunction with a program like Skype can keep us close despite the challenge of long distance gaming. Of course, I also recommended this forum as a base for all OOC operations. This thread is the proposition of this setup mainly to our current party and to those whose curiosity drives them further down the page.

Q: It's great that you're considering this forum for this but is it exclusive to just your current party?

A: While I am not the DM, I have spoken in person with him about the possibility of people joining us from this forum. This seems possible. However, limitations are but not limited to not being able to join until we need to use online programs to continue our game and if they move back to our area. It may not be possible to continue playing with us if such happens. Not to mention you must be able to use said programs as they would be vital to our tradition of having a table top and seeing each others' faces. These are all variables I cannot control, but nonetheless wanted to wish that if you find yourself interested I can make sure you are put in communication with our DM if this all indeed happens.

Q: Why use a forum?

A: While Facebook is nice since we all have it and it can hold a group for us a forum such as this is better at organizing all OOC information. While Facebook strives at setting times and seeing if everyone has seen the information this could easily be a better option. Knightly-Gamers also serves as a friendly and small community that would work wonderfully for this. If these qualities did not exist, moving from Facebook simply would not really be possible as players wouldn't be able to keep desired privacy with other forums.

Q: Can you tell me about the game?

A: Not at this moment. That will take time. Game focuses on demons as the source of the story arcs. Domstein is just the name of the continent we are located in the world of Harken. We being Tistan the Justice Seeking Paladin(probably spelled that wrong, pronounced Tish-tion), Arria the Demon Hunting Ranger, August the Judgement Dealing Cleric, and Brandyflox the Ever-Drunken Rouge Bard (who is seriously on a quest to find his humility).

Q: Where can I get the programs?

A: See below. No need to download these at the moment. This is more of a reference.

RPTools: http://www.rptools.n...?page=downloads (You will just need Maptools unless you're someone who creates content  like the DM.)

Skype: http://www.skype.com...download-skype/

Google Hangouts: http://www.google.com/hangouts/

Q: So?

A: If this somehow interested you can PM me and when the time is right I will get you in contact should this move actually began to unfold, we decide to use this forum, and the DM feels it is okay to add new players.

I know that when D was last in his mood for Dungeon and Draggins that we used Google Hangouts and an app called like roll20 or whatever which is basically a D+D toolkit. He had a sub for D+D online character creator which we used to print out sheets and level up and all that good stuff. GDox for shops and all that. Working it online is pretty easy :P

Wow this roll20 is quite the program. It looks much easier to use than maptools seemed to be.

I'm intrigued but not yet fully interested. I'd love to hear more about it.

Very easy for the players. I dunno the GM commands since only D was able to, but it's pretty boss.
