And zomg there wasn't a thread for this already?! We definitely needed one that is for sure.
I've seen every movie at least 4 times and continue to watch them just because of how awesome they are and how much I LOVE pirates!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone that knows me usually knows that I barely look forward to movies. This year, i've only been excited about two. Scream 4 (which I saw Saturday. Missed movie night here. ;-;) and On Stranger Tides. The movie looks sweet and it will be great to see Jack back in action once more. ^^

Anyway. The first movie was the best one, second one seemed like they were forced to make it no matter if it was good or not and the third was an ok pick up. The newest one though, that looks like a real Pirates of the Carribean movie. Glad they goT rid of Will and Elizabeth, they were just unnecessary characters :/
We get more Jack Sparrow! (forgot the captain :P). Frankly, I love Johnny Depps acting. He's awesome. The new actors look pretty good. Overall, this is gonna be one awesome movie. I'm gonna pull some strings and try to get my mum or dad to take me and my sister to see it at the cinemas.

I'm wondering if Jack will find the Fountain and this will be the last one. Maybe see him a good 50 years or so in the future and him look just the same at the end of the movie.

The folks at Disney are either overconfident or simply delirious. Pirates of the Caribbean 4 hasn't even opened in theaters, yet they already have a script for its sequel. Yes, Pirates 5 is on the way, and the only one who can stop this thing is Jack Sparrow himself—Johnny Depp.
There have been rumors that Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides could mark the beginning of a new trilogy that focuses specifically on Sparrow's adventures. And according to The Hollywood Reporter, Terry Rossio, who wrote the screenplays for the first four Pirates films, has already delivered the finished script for Pirates 5 to Disney.
The only thing that could stand in the way of the studio and their Pirates booty is Depp. The actor loves the character and the series, but he's not a fan of the long and tedious shoots. He didn't like the back-to-back filming schedule the studio enforced for Pirates 2 and 3 just so they could make their release dates.
So yea. New trilogy focusing on the adventures of Jack. So much want.

Although the prospect of 5 and 6 coming out is worrying me. It could turn out good or they could end up making people hate them. Hopefully they don't come out with a television series *shudders*.

I highly doubt Depp would downgrade to a television series.
Agreed. I dont see him doing a TV series after a Film series. It just wouldn't make sense really.
Them hiring another actor to play Jack is something they could throw around... or even an animated series at that.

My point exactly, no one said Jack had to be played by Depp. Animated might be interesting but again it would probably be some moral-less mass produced crud like everything else on Disney Channel.Them hiring another actor to play Jack is something they could throw around... or even an animated series at that.

New trilogy focusing on the adventures of Jack.
This it'll get them big bucks. Everyone loves to see Jack Sparrow on the screen. Adventures just about him will make the movies makers filthy rich. Wise cracking jokes, awesome pirate action and kewl actors, what many people in the public seem to love. Plus I'm pretty sure the kiddies will love to see their hero without the whole pointless Will and Elizabeth love triangle and complicated life thing going on.

False. It only works when Depp plays Sparrow. I can't even remotely imagine any actor playing him besides Depp. IF they made a series about Sparrow, and the actor wasn't Depp, they'd lose alot. Thats what I think, at least.

Ah >.> I forgot to add that big detail to my post. That is true though. If they put someone else there instead of Depp then it would be pretty fail. It's just hard to imagine someone else as Jack :/

I like this series and I hope it continues, but only if there are good stories to tell. Cap'n Jack Sparrow is one of the more well known fictional pirates now, and Disney has a chance to grow his legacy even more into an iconic character away from the original trilogy, of which he really was only exceptional as a character in the very first. I'd be welcome to it.
