If your a fan of DotA, LoL is a game made by the creators of DotA. But, you really can't play LoL the same way you would any other RTS. I acknowledge I'm being kinda vague here, but I'm simply curious if anyone else plays LoL.

Thread revival? Thread revival.
So, I downloaded the game over the weekend and it's pretty good. I've played DotA a bit a few years back, and though I've never been "pro" at it, I did know the mechanics behind. But man, this game and its team oriented gameplay just made me realize how hard it is to play when you have uncooperative people.
I'm 1-3 but for the most part, I've been the carry on my team. Sucks specially the characters I choose aren't exactly suppose to be carries.

It's fun if you've played DotA and if you have a solid team. The learning curve is steep and random pub players may not be the smartest nor kindest people you meet. There's also the occasional leaver who puts your team in a great disadvantage. But other than that, take a shot at it and see for yourself since these types of games may not appeal to everyone.

I think HoN and LoL have their significant differences that make you want to play both games if you like the genre such as the presence of denying in HoN, different level caps, and art style. I'd say LoL is definitely the less hardcore MOBA game between the two but that isn't really a bad thing.
Also, new game mode is coming soon. Don't know much about it but here's the trailer.

Honestly I say go for it, since what the harm in trying? That's the realization I had to come to before I downloaded the game and even now that I'm not a high level and really only know the basics of the game, but I still enjoy it.

Maybe we can play a game some time, Rose. Also, what heroes do you usually play? (general question to anyone who plays this game)
I'm personally liking Singed, The Mad Chemist. His E ability throws a target enemy in the direction opposite of where he's facing and has a poison ability which really helps farm creeps and kill escaping/chasing heroes. I've gotten epic kills with him and I've won 5 out of 6 times I've played him.
Also, check out solomid.net for good guides on builds and strategies. It's really helpful, specially if you don't know what items/runes to buy for your hero.

I only got to use Ashe for now and she is doing pretty well. Her volley spell does a lot of work for me against creeps and minions are a piece of cake. Game's getting a significant update, as this patch dubbed as the Talon Patch basically reworks the metagame. It used to be Carry+Healer at the bottom lane where they would basically be there for a very long time and not worry about going back to base. Most Healer champs are now having their heals nerfed but have been compensated with buffs in their offensive skills. The patch will also fix a couple of minor bugs as well as introduce new scoreboard art, new Kill Callout displays, and a new ping function that signals your team to fall back.
Lastly, the patch will introduce Talon, the Blade's Shadow as a new champion who is speculated to cost 6300 IP/975 RP. He is expected to be an Assassin-Stealth character and his backstory ties him in with Katarina The Sinister Blade. Even with Dota 2 coming along, Riot Games has shown that they are still supporting League of Legends by adding new content: A new type of gameplay called Dominion mode was featured at Gamescon and will be featured at PAX Prime, with a speculated global release two weeks later from today.

Anyone here still playing this? I started playing a couple weeks ago and I really like it. So far I have four wins against one loss out of five played PVP games. My main is Heimerdinger, but I started playing with Fiddlesticks today and found that I really really like him. Have yet to try him in PVP though.

Solo top is my best role atm with Singed and Gangplank being my mains, though I can use Taric for support and Ryze for mid. I own Vayne for AD carry but I am incredibly terribad with her ;-;
Fiddle is a top champion in terms of ganking, with his ult+fear+drain combo killing anyone instantaneously early to mid game. He's very awesome in sustaining too so he's pretty much impossible to beat if he snowballs early on.
Also, the next champ scheduled to be released had its files leaked and I'm pretty sure I'm buying him with RP once he's officially in the League.

Same here, fellow GP player. Though, this might mean I'd start with Philo and go for Triforce instead of Infinity Edge more for him. I firmly believe that GP won't be really hit hard by the new patch, specially since he has a lot of utility. I've won games as support, jungler, mid, and even AD carry along with the usual solo top when using GP.
Anyway, Ziggs really seems like a fun character but I probably won't buy him on release day. While the idea of area denial and explosions sound really cool, I'm still holding out for the next "classic" support character Riot decides to finally churn out.

Now for a League of Legends anecdote: I was on the bus going to work, casually browsing the LoL general discussions forums while listening to music. Before I know it, some fellow yanked my earphones and exclaimed that he played League of Legends too. He quickly gave me his summoner name and expects me to play with him. He also told me that he was 1100 ELO, which is his ranking based on a system implemented by the game's designers. I personally don't play ranked games but I was told that I had 1400-1500 mechanics down. Don't think I'll ever play with this fellow. I have heard horror stories of ranked games below 1200.
It's the summer time and LoL is still going as strong as ever. I strongly urge people to try this game as it only has become even more popular, with it's growing e-sports scene as well as awesome community. Here's a link to download the game (which may or may not help me in getting referral rewards)
