I know there was an attempt at this sort of thread earlier, but why not give it another go, hmm? I would simply save this for Sorobox, but so often I tend to get ignored or it evidently will not reach many people at all. Here, you could talk about arcade games like Asteriods or Galaxia ( for what it's worth ), as well as games for old consoles like the Gensis, or simply mention how you stumbled across the games.

Considering the relative age of video games as they're known today and the age of the members here, I'm pretty sure everything PSX and before can count for "old" - basically, starting from when I was just 3 years old to before then. Just leave immensely popular games like Pokemon, Legend of Zelda, and Metal Gear Solid for their respective threads.

As for obscure games, that's a bit debatable, but we'll settle for a general description. Think of it as games you hear little or nothing about from anyone else, like Indigo Prophecy or Space Griffon VF-9. It's better if you can name some old games rather than more recent ones, though.

( Main purpose of this, I guess, is for reminiscing in light of this shiteload of new games that seems to keep coming out every couple months or so. I mean, it seems like I just blinked and here all these new consoles are. And it's also to give some folks an idea of old games to check out if they've hit a stump. I dunno, you people can effectively use Youtube these days to see if you like this stuff, I wasn't so blessed. )

For now, let's get a little list going for the sake of striking conversation, hmm?

Old:
Arcade Games ( duh )
Spyro (PSX)

Crash Bandicoot Warped (PSX)
Jedi Power Battles (PSX)
Smackdown 2 (PSX)
Legend of Dragoon (PSX)
Sonic 2 (Sega Genesis)

Obscure: The Aftermath (DS)
Knights in the Nightmare (DS/PSP)
Sin and Punishment (N64/Wii VC)

Very well, for the moment, I will acknowledge those games. Thanks for the additions.

Remember, though, this is first and foremostly for chatting about said games if someone waltz along and recognizes them. So I'll start on one you've acknowledged. Dion may jump in the discussion if he's so inclined.

How did you come to know of IP/Fahrenheit? Did someone tell you about it, or did it manage to catch your eye? Have you played it? If so, what was your favorite thing about the game?

I saw it in a used video game store up here, but Dino was the one who acknowledged it was any good. I played it through several times, and I gotta say the semi-flexibility in the host of things you can do was pretty alluring the first time. Not many games give ya quite so many options, and the music was pretty nice.

Indigo Prophecy was a game I discovered through a cousin. And I am not ashamed of this. It is the most intriguing PS2 game I have played. The lucid and responsive controls and the amazing story line and choice just make it one of the best games I have played. Definite buy for people that like games like Heavy Rain. o.o

Old:
Digimon World 2 (PSX)
Digimon Rumble Arena (PSX)
Tekken 3 (PSX)
Gran Turismo (PSX)
Crash Bash (PSX)
Crash Bandicoo Warped (PSX)
Jedi Power Battles (PSX)
Smackdown 2 (PSX)
Legend of Dragoon (PSX)
Sonic 2 (Sega Genesis)

Old/Obscure:
Tomba! (PSX)
Tomba!2 (PSX)
Star Gladiator (PSX)
Battle Arena Toshinden 2 (PSX)
Battle Arena Toshinden 3 (PSX)

I'm not sure how many of these games anyone will recognize, but I saw that I'm not the only Star Gladiator fan here. That's a little refreshing, although I am a little blown to find out that Star Gladiator was in fact an obscure game despite Hayato's appearance in Marvel vs Capcom 2.
I see no reason to fear the darkness, for there is nothing there to be feared.

Glad to see another Star Gladiator fan as well. I played it back when I was about 3 until I turned 6, so it was only thanks to a manual I kept that I remembered it. I really miss playing it, honestly, even if I didn't play the game itself too well. :<

Tomba...I think I might've played that sometime, but my memory's fuzzy. Didn't get very far at all in it. To be honest, I'm achin' to get copies of those two again now that I'm older, see how it works and what it's about better. Well, those two and Jumping Flash. But I'm a little on the poor side, so it's not exactly like I can go off and buy them as I wish.

Also, nice to see someone familiar with Crash Bash and Warped. I still have working copies of those, though Warped is a little scratched up. But it's fun to play those two just for fun sometimes. :3

Actually, I still have all of them, and they all still work pretty well.

I don't play Star Gladiator all that much anymore, but I tend to play the crap out of Tomba! 2. I love that versatily they give you in terms of weaponry (Ice Boomerang, Torch Hammer, Spike-Flail, etc.) despite the simplicity of the battle system (jump on a pig and throw them away.) I think the guy who developed the concept of the game was high at the time, but it was extremely original. I still Tomba! as well, but not as often.

As for Crash Bash and Warped, they still work, but I really don't play them like I used to. I only got into Crash Bash as a way to have fun with my cousin, but he let me keep his copy of the game because I played more videogames than he did. I tried Cash Warped whe he brought it to my house one night, and he never took it back.

I've had these games for nearly a decade, but you wouldn't know it if you played any of them.

Not sure where it falls in, but the arcader Killer Instinct is my favorite SNES game. The soundtrack was amazing to me then and still. I think it'd be too popular, given my small gaming pile.
