[ A Story of Infinite Worlds ]

 

Earth is peaceful. We have lived through nearly thirty years straight of peace between nations; skirmishes are few and far between and rarely take a scope near the wars of old that decimated cities and put entire races of people to the torch. This is relative peace.

 

That's, of course, what they believe. In truth, the world is overrun with monsters. Beasts from beyond the Void. They are everywhere and nowhere. They are gas station attendants, garbage people, CEOs, homeless people... They are what goes bump in the night; the monster hiding under the beds of children. They're here, and they can't leave. The routes they took getting here were one-way passages from their worlds to ours. Some regret it; they miss their homes and families and lives. Some revel in it. Fresh meat what doesn't even know they exist. Ripe for savagery.

 

We aim to help the former and stop the latter - by any means necessary.

I'll post up Lucille's template once someone else makes one. :D Amelia isn't ever gonna really do too much since her job is just mediating between Carlisle and you guys in terms of getting and doling out missions. Lucille is your field leader, though, so she'll be out there with you.

 

Also note:

 

You may create both 1 character and 1 race, only 1 character, or only 1 race.

Your character you create does not need to be the race you create.

You may create a Human character who is not an otherworlder at all.

You may create a character who is a cross-breed of two races, however such a character must be born on Earth.

You may edit your character at any time prior to the start of the roleplay if you wish to utilize a race which is created by someone else after your character has been accepted.

-- You will need to be re-accepted post-edits, of course.

Please make your races as original as you can. While it is theoretically possible to have Saiyans and Vampires in this roleplay, I would much prefer original takes on such tried and true staples. See: Shadowalkers and Spirits.

Avoid creating races that exist independent of the rules, such as ones that can cross between worlds and such like this, because that's not a power that some denizen of some world would possess. There IS a race that I just haven't revealed yet with powers such as this, but they're currently not known of by Cotsam.

NEW SPECIES IDENTIFICATION FORM

Name: Anbarilusarrum
Homeworld: Unug

General Description of Form:
Very similar to that of humans in body structure and facial appearance, averaging 6'5" in height. On the cellular lever they are based on both carbon and silicon, with parts of the body using silicon in great amounts. Naturally emit magnetic fields as well as have organs for a sixth sense to detect it. Not to mention they are very perceptive in information gathering. Have two ways to breathe: oxygen through the mouth and nitrogen through gills on sides of torso. Breeding with other races is common and tends to lead to fertile offspring rather than hybrids. Gene pool is surprisingly stable and much larger than that of humans with no single standard determining a consistence appearance. The most common appearance is found at 40% among known specimens.
Most consistent appearance for identifying an Anbarilusarrum is described as large humanoid, metallic-hued skin, around eight arms, and purple irises.
Sex Dimorphisms: Similar in scope of change as in found in human sex dimorphism. However, females tend to weigh more via bone structure while males tend to be larger and taller via bone structure. Males also normally have more arms and females have thicker skin.

General Temperament/Alignment:
Commonly competitive and are normally willing to be peaceful, friendly, and cooperate with humans with a skeptic approach due to past tensions.

Cultural Information Gleaned from Contact:
Integrates rather well into human societies, as found in history. Noted to be on average more intelligent and sexually active than humans. Modern specimens that dwell on Unug are skeptic of humans due to the genocides of their people in the past on Earth, earth-dwellers are more forgiving. They use unconventional, non-electrical technology that is the equivalent of human technology.

Resiliency Against Common Weaponry:
Handguns and Blunt weaponry often found useless against them.
Other non-heavy firearms and bladed weaponry often found limited in use.

Suggested Mode(s) of Permanent Handling:
Avoid close combat. Using a stronger magnetic field against them will give clear advantages. Otherwise treat as a much stronger thick-skinned human.

Important Additional Notes (include dangerous qualities primarily):
Weakest specimen encountered was twice as strong as large human male.
Silicon based skin does well against most lower-class newtonian weaponry, if that's all that is available target sides of torso.
Average intelligence is slightly higher than average human.
Their magnetic fields have been known to extremely affect electrical equipment.
Some people are prone to visions in high magnetic fields.

Family was assaulted by a Shadowwalker who decided to have "fun" with torture. I barely escaped and when I did, I ignorantly tried to save my family from the killer. I didn't know the weakness of a Shadowwalker but I ended up saving us all when I stood still, in shock, and flashed a light directly into the creature's form. It didn't take very long for the shadowwalker to flee.

@Lex:

Creatures are weird, primarily because of lack of consistency in physical appearance. I'm having trouble reasoning out how, biologically, such vast, common, inconsistencies could be all considered the same species. Mostly how they're so common. If you could enlighten me on the reasons behind that, I'd be totally okay with them. They just have a lot of arms.

 

Aaaand that name. Any particular reason for it being so long?

 

@Kingroy:

Blake is good with one caveat: you said No to having dealt with MASA in the past and then described a past MASA Blake has experienced. :P Not a big deal, though, obviously.

 

@Wynn:

Tom is good. I have nothing at all to whine about. Aside from the current lack of Oshkhavii information, obviously. <:

 

@Dream:

More a general question than in specific concert with your Haldakis, but can I ask what - in your mind - differentiates tiger feet from wolf feet? They have similar structures to my mind and the only real difference that I conceive of in my limited scope is the fur color, and I'm SURE that's not what you mean for the difference to be.

 

Aside from that, they look good.

 

I'll be adding 3 new races of my own to the first post now-ish and I'll add Haldaki and Anbars once I get responses.

I'll just mention quickly that my character template is done and submitted in my first post.

 

Now with bone structures for Tigers and Wolves..

The differences are more obvious in terms of bone density and tails. The focus was of course more around ear shape, tail shape, claws and strength differences. The paw differences between those with a wolf-human development and tiger-human development is more along the lines that tiger feet are larger than wolf feet (though for both kinds their feet are at minimum large enough to support their bodies). If anything, the hind legs for tigers should be larger than wolves according to the pictures below (yes I know they're different paws on the Haldakis). Not only that, tigers should have longer legs (from the knee down) than wolves.

 

Other differences, like arm difference, should be a little more obvious with the pictures below. Tigers-human Haldaki's would have more fatter and hairier looking arms.

Yeah, thanks. That makes much more sense to me now.

 

:D I added Carcarachae, Aviates, and Nagas to my post in addition to putting in the Haldakis (with a link since it's gonna be lots easier to handle things that way, in case information is changed later on) and adding both Tom and Blake to the list of employees. I'll add links there, too, next time I update stuff which will probably be tomorrow. <:

 

That concludes my initial glut of otherworlders for you guys to ponder. The list of otherworlders should hit at least 10 not including Spirits before the RP begins to have nice diversity in characters at Cotsam HQ so I miiiight pad it a little if needed. I'm not nearly out of ideas yet.

The idea is how there are genes for more than five fingers (and if either parent has then its dominant), etc and multiple genes that create the same phenotype but different genotype, so some are dominant and others no so much which allows for varying looks in ways that would allows the offspring to survive yet allow the diversity of the species to grow. And all of them could reproduce fertile offspring together. (I'm also trying to make it possible to cross-breed so I make a character who's half human/unug.) Of course, with these great differences some possible offspring has low chances of survival/quality of life and this has been seen by them. A cast system arose from this. Several casts try to remain pure of inconsistencies. Other embrace them. The rest just try to live. In case you didn't notice, they name their species after their planet, Unug. The name Anbarilusarrum comes from the term used to identify the first one on Earth, which is a collection of Sumerian words. If a human asked them what they were they would say that, rather than their native tongue. Sense of pride has them not wanting to speak their tongue to other races. Speaking of which the most confirmed earliest time these guys showed up would be Sumerian times, if that's canonically possible.

That's a good two millenia post the inception of Sumer, but the Unug could have been around during Sumer's reign for sure. Caste system, btw. And aside from that it sort of makes sense. Just going to throw this out there as an issue I'm seeing (finally able to wrap my head around why I was very EHHH about your race).

 

The masses of Humans are unaware that otherworlders exist. There's absolutely no media reports on these things; one of Cotsam's primary purposes is controlling how these events are handled and closing them off before the media can catch wind. The Unug are incredibly strange in appearance and behavior, even compared to most otherworlders (who tend to prefer NOT to interact with the Humans). In your character's sheet, it seems you're implying that you teach about your origins/species to other people. This is not a thing that would happen anywhere outside of a government/cotsam-controlled compound, and those sorts of facilities don't really... exist in a form that doesn't closely resemble a detention compound. If your character WERE making speeches to the public in one way or another, Cotsam or its affiliate organizations around the world would swoop down on him before anything gets out of hand and would close it off pretty much instantly. Like I guess I wasn't clear about how hush-hush all of this is. The normal human knows absolutely nothing about these otherworlders outside of urban myths/legends about creatures in the woods or some such.

Just going to throw this out there as an issue I'm seeing (finally able to wrap my head around why I was very EHHH about your race).

 

The masses of Humans are unaware that otherworlders exist. There's absolutely no media reports on these things; one of Cotsam's primary purposes is controlling how these events are handled and closing them off before the media can catch wind. Alright so I gave it a few days and it looks like this is our core group. :D I'm cool with a small-scale operation - we're just lacking an expert to round out the team, so I'll make a quick NPC for that role, who will have minimal impact on the way things go. His job will be just to regurgitate information about the different races of creature we encounter as the roleplay marches forward. He's also somewhat mysterious and should prove to be an intriguing piece of the larger puzzle that is the roleplay.

Alright, so we have 5 people. I'm sticking Bill as our Vanguard so we fill out a full group. Might add some unnamed extras for some of the worse missions because I'm a fan of a good body count. :P

 

Anyway. I'll be writing up the first post soon. Feel free to ask questions here (or there, just be sure to stay in character there) and I (or Malcolm/Amelia/Lucy) will answer them to the best of my ability. Most important of all is to have fun with this. :D I have the first mission set in my head (the setup and such at least) but it could be a while before we actually start it, depending how things go. I won't be pushing for things to happen as long as I don't need to push for things to happen.

Name: Vampires

Homeworld: Ranyt

 

General Description of Form:

They appear as a generally humanoid lifeform, with slightly exaggerated jawlines and very defined facial structure around the eyes. Contrary to popular myths, they do not seem to have any specific complexion. In their basic form, they otherwise look absolutely human. They do, however, have, like some animals, a reflective film in the back of their eyes, to allow for nocturnism. 

 

Sex Dimorphisms:

 Vampires breed sexually but do not acquire their full potential until they reach their prime. They have the same gender properties as humans, as well as sexual traits, with the exception of being able to seamlessly change form and gender in both appearance and gender traits by choosing to inherit that trait from blood.. 

 

General Temperament/Alignment:

Vampires are extremely protective of other life, having developed a process to harmlessly and painlessly extract a harmless amount of blood from an animal at regular intervals as opposed to slaughtering them for blood.

 

Information Gleaned from Contact:

Vampiric culture is very sophisticated, stressing the weight of all life. They have a love of music, similar to us humans. However, they do not seem to use any particular language in their music, it seems to just be toned vocals.

 

Resiliency Against Common Weaponry:

Vampires are extremely resilient and can regenerate from almost anything if their regeneration is not impeded by a weakness and they are given enough time. They regenerate from their heart out, but if the heart is damaged, the vampire is destroyed. Bigtooth Aspen' s wood has the unusual ability to stop a vampire in its tracks and pierce its more durable body. Silver has the unique property of ceasing regeneration until it is removed from the wound. It is of note that to properly dispose of a vampire it must still be impaled through the heart.  This is easiest with silver or Aspen but can be done with anything sharp with enough force behind it. The average time of a vampire' s regeneration is about an inch of bone per hour, an entire muscle in about a minute, with flesh and other body systems recovering last but almost in real time.  It's of note that muscle damage heals more rapidly if the muscle is not entirely gone.

 

Suggested Mode(s) of Permanent Handling:

Try to make peace, but if that fails take into immediate combat as soon as you can. Aim for the heart if you're equipped to kill it, otherwise disable it and call for reinforcements.

 

Important Additional Notes (include dangerous qualities primarily):

Vampires are able to heighten their regeneration by consuming blood, or transform into more animalistic forms, gaining beneficial traits of an animal, by consuming its blood. They can only hold this form for up to ten minutes, however. They also have demonstrated well controlled electromagnetic abilities and are able to manifest these in many ways,  though this seems to cause noticeable fatigue or pain to the vampire. By temporarily forfeiting the senses of sight and sound, a vampire can transform into a more demonic form, capable of incredible speeds and strength, and becomes completely invulnerable to all but Aspen and silver, however, without the consumption of a rather sizable amount of blood before or immediately after, the vampire will fall into a day of sleep.
